Is it terrible to go in the summer? Late June?

If my fiancee and I go to WDW it will be June 24th-July 2nd. Is it really hot and crowded? We have always gone in February and April and the weather has been wonderful and WDW not crowded.

My fiancee is not crazy about going because he says we'll be miserable.

DD and I have been in July (2004) and in June (2005). Yes, it was VERY hot. Yes, it rained a lot. Yes it was VERY crowded. Extra magic hours were so crowded even after midnight there were lines over an hour long.
However, I'd do it again. After all, any day at WDW is wonderful! :cool1:

I hated our late May trip -- so much so that I'll never go back. If I have to bring the kids during a school holiday, I'll make it Easter or Christmas. I'd rather deal with the crowds than the heat.

After 3 summer vacation at WDW, we have decided to rethink that time of year to visit. My 2 DD's had such a hard time in the heat this year, they just about were ready to give up on WDW beacuse of the heat.

Well we are giving Jan a try. Let'S hope it isn't too cold for them then! As for me, I get used to the heat pretty quickly, once my body has survived the shock of such humidity, usually a day or two, I'm fine for the rest of the trip.

As for crowds, yup...really crowded but still gotr to see and do everything we wanted. Just took us longer, and a fastpass runner(me)!

The atnosphere, longer hours and extra daylight cannot be beat. If the only time of the year I could go would be summer, I'd still go anyways.

People think it can't be that bad in Florida in the summer, but it's worse than they think. First day I was there, in mid-June, I got sun poisoning. I know several people who have had to cut their vacations short because they couldn't bear the brutal heat. If you even think your fiancee might be uncomfortable in the weather, DON'T go then! Since we have high schoolers and we won't go when it's too hot (May thru mid-October) or holidays (too crowded), we're going the first week of January. I'd rather put up with 50 degree weather than being broiled alive.

We went July '05. Yes it is hot and crowded. We have 3 kids 7,8 & 10. We had a great vacation by sticking to some simple rules. Use fastpass, use alot of sunscreen, drink alot of water, take alot of breaks(most of the shops are air conditioned) and don't be afraid to go back to your resort to swim in the afternoon. We had a great vacation right in the middle of July. Good Luck!

We also went July 05 with our then 9 yo ds and 6 yo dd. I would agree with all kmkja1 wrote, and to that I would add, go early! We had an absolutely fabulous time! I think it all depends on what approach you want to take. If you don't mind going early and you're willing to take breaks, summer can be wonderful as it was for us. If you like to sleep in, hit the parks at noon, and then commando tour for the rest of the day... well, avoid summer like the plague.

I'm voting with your fiance....hot and miserable.

We went in the middle of July this year.....while I have no problem with the crowds, we all hated the heat. We are going in December of 2006 next time. However, we still had a great time, and if that was the only time we could go back, I would.

Summertime brings more people to WDW since parents don't have to take their children out of school. The crowds are there, especially on weekends. The heat and humidity are there too. Last summer Central Florida reached records for number of days in a row in the 90's. It's hot and it's humid. However, if you do your research you can have a great experience instead of a miserable one. Pace yourself. Know in advance where the airconditioned buildings are. Use fast passes. Drink plenty of fluids. Wear sunscreen. Keep an eye on the timeboards for how long waits are. Bring an umbrella or rain poncho for the afternoon thunderstorm. Wear light colored clothes. Etc.

we went for our honeymoon in late June. The worst place was IOA. That was the only place we waited for much time for anything. It rained everyday, but otherwise, not bad at all.

After doing one disney trip in August it took us 10 years to even attempt to make another trip back to disney, it was so hot, crowded and just plain miserable that my husband refused to even think about going back again. But since we took our last trip in March we both have decided that the winter time is the best for us, even though March can be crowded it is easier to deal with the crowds when it isn't so hot and humid out.

We went the second week in June, once--NEVER AGAIN! It rained every day, it was hot, humid and we were miserable. If you are talking about going on your honeymoon, there is NOTHING romantic at all about Florida in the summer.

We went in late August and yes, the heat was unlike anything I have ever felt. BUT we expected it to be that way and planned for it. We took breaks in the middle of every day, went at a slow pace, drank tons and tons of water, and stopped in air conditioned stores often. I was proud that none of us got dehydrated or sunburned and we had the time of our lives. We are planning our next trip for August again. It can be done without misery, you just have to be prepared.

June/July in Florida is VERY HOT :sunny: Since schools are out, I would imagine crowds would be unbearable.....

But then again, anytime I am at WDW is GREAT!!!!

Only 3 of our 14 trips to WDW were NOT in June. Every thing said about the heat, the rain, and the crowds is true. However, if you plan properly, it can be a great time, Start early in the day, swim, nap, and cool off in the afternoon, and enjoy the cooler evenings. Use fast pass and plan your EMHs as well. Get ponchos and go for it! :teeth:

:earboy2: It really depends on how much you hate the heat..I brought my whole family down June 21 for a week..it rained every day all day..the parks were still mobbed and we were soaking wet..with ponchos on so it felt like we were being steamed cooked..when the sun came out for a few minutes one day the heat was unimaginable..even my kids couldn't walk...the whole trip was like a blur..I bought everyone park hopper passes and after a couple of days no one wanted to leave the house I rented..which was a mistake..the house said it had five bedrooms..three of which were tiny..no more than a large closet...but maybe if you stay on site it might be better. I think the rain we had was unusual ..some say it rains everyday but only for few minutes..I hate the heat so I was gonna be miserable no matter what..well if you like the heat..try it

When we lived outside of Ft Lauderdale, no one we knew would consider going during the summer. (Of course, it's easy to say that when you live only four hours away!) :flower:

Sorry, Melissa, but I'm with your fiance on this one. It will be hot and miserable, no doubt about it. FL summer heat is exhausting, draining, nauseating. Really, I try to do my errands so early in the morning. I wouldn't go to WDW if someone paid me to! Sorry, I hope you enjoy whenever you do visit!

We were there Oct. 4-11 and it was much more humid and hot than our June 9-14 trip.
