Is it rude to have husband wait in line to get in the gates while we get a Starbucks?

Wanted to ask the experts, if it is frowned upon to have my husband stand in line at the gate before the parks open, while the rest of us run over to get a Starbucks coffee. Then come join him in line. Thank you so much for your help!

I think the answer always depends on how many. Our last trip my daughter, son and I often went to the gates early - like up against the gate early. My husband would often join us about 15 minutes before we would be let through but that is amending a party of 3 to a party of 4. I have seen others do this as well. This seems to be acceptable. However, if you are adding more to the party than is already there, then I think it's somewhat frowned upon. Last time we saw in the line next to us 1 person having 5 people join them at the front of the line and there was some grumbling of others in that line.

Gate is not as big of a deal though as ride lines, as going through the gate is pretty fast! Holding a place in a ride line is much more frowned upon. People do it, but I think it's rude. Leaving with a kid to go potty and coming back is entirely a different thing.

I have had people do similiar in front of me and I don't think twice. Having a group of 5 or more I get ticked. In the parks I don't like anyone getting to go up and joining the group unless its an adult and a young one (then I assume it was a potty break).

Why would you want to hold a place in line? Is there an advantage to being forward in line? Is there an advantage to drinking Starbucks?

With the criminal photography and rope drop and being there at 45 mins before gate opening, shouldn't be a problem.....it is a long rope or a big hub to secure those attractions spots.

What about just one of you does the Starbucks run while the rest wait at the gate? That's how we did it. We were coming in from the Harbor side of the Esplanade. So we'd get in line (usually at or near the front) I'd put in the mobile order, DH would leave his backpack with me so coming back through security was quicker, and go get the order. Then he'd be back before the gates opened and joined me. It was a kind of close thing once when we had only about 3 minutes before countdown at California Adventure; we were like second or third group in line, and they'd already scanned my ticket in preparation to opening the gates. But he made it.

That would not be a problem for me. I see many people do it each morning I'm wait to get in.

It's the one person at the front of the gate that has several people join them right at the last minute that seems to tick the rest of the line off.

Joyfully, no security to get back into the hub anymore. That’s taken care of outside the borders of the hub and downtown Disney now.

I second the person above who said order online. We did during our trip and just grabbed it on our way to the gate. We ordered 10/15 mins early and it was ready when we got there. I think holding a spot in line will not bother most people but there will always be some who mind so it just depends on the day. Personally I wouldn’t mind.

One waiting for three to later arrive I’d find it rude, but again others might not my husband wouldn’t. I’d find it more acceptable if it were two waiting and two arriving later.
