I just read that the Wonder is scheduled for dry dock in October of 2006. It appears its first cruise will be the one we booked, the Oct. 15th, a 4 day. Is it risky to book right after a dry dock, what if they don't finish in time? Does this happen? Or maybe it's actually better because any new upgrades or new stuff we will get the first peek? Someone, anyone out there, what are your thoughts?

Hasn't been risky so far as I know. The ship will sail on the appointed date...finished or not. Too much revenue to loose. Has DCL ever sailed unfinished after drydock??? Someone else will have to answer that one. I'm sure they may have sailed with wet paint before.

Drydock's main purpose is for below the waterline systems maintenance - hull corrosion / bottom paint, shafts, struts, propellor, thrusters, stabilizer and rudder maintenance. Lines take the opportunitity for passenger space upgrades as well...

we cruised the wonder after dry dock in october 2004 and the only thing that i really remember being missing was the donald duck on the hull of the ship...he reappeared a few weeks later after being repainted...i always feel good after dry dock because i fell everything must be super clean since they have time to clean everything properly!!! :flower:

They still sail even if they don't finish everything on time. When we cruised in October of 2003 after the Magic's dry dock our friends had their cabin changed on them by DCL. Appears that they weren't finished renovating some of the staterooms on deck 5 at the time, or something happened during dry dock that caused damage to the staterooms. So they had to be renovated.
But heck, that can happen anytime. One thing I've learned in life so far is anything can happen at anytime. So, just live and enjoy. :)

We cruise Wonder last year straight after drydock.Everything was great,in fact it's nice to be the first ones onboard to see the changes. The only disadvantage was the 'secret deck' on deck seven was out of bounds as it was being used to store floor coverings, chairs etc.
