Is it really true they are out of Cinderella carriage popcorn buckets?

VERY bad show Disney for not even trying to make enough of these. What's the point in just making enough that a select group of people can snap them up and mark them way up. What's in that deal for Disney? And they know that's what happens. :(
Elsa dress, anyone??

I know. You'd think they'd learn.

I think they just love the feeding frenzy aspect of this and will continue, regardless of how frustrating it is to their customers.

A) I stood in line with the 'famous' bucket guy.Total shmuck. He had 6 already on his shoulder before he bought the 25.

B) I also saw 6 other resllers with their allotment all within an hour timespan. How many times did they do that? And how many more came through? Those personL shopper services know tons of people they can call on to come get 25each.

C) they allowed 25 because originally it was called a limited release. Limited release collectibles are allowed to be purchased up to 25 at a time. Limited Editions are only allowed 2 per person.

D) multiple managers said they are not allowed to refuse a sale so they couldnt force the resellers to stop.

I see no reason this should not have been limited to 2 per person.

And the choice to only produce a 3 day supply was Disney's alone. I blame them.

My understanding was that they were producing more and were just waiting on the new order to be processed so I wouldnt give up hope just yet.

We were there Mar 16-23 and I only saw 2 women carrying them around. Never saw anyone else with one or any for sale.

They may be listing them at $80 on ebay, but that's not what a vast majority of them are selling for. I just glanced at the completed listings and it appears to me you could easily get one in the $30 price range. How much were these in the parks originally?

I paid $13.50 for mine, just happened that my first day of vacation was March 13th

That's less than I thought they would be. Even at $30 they're making a profit. Too bad that they didn't put stricter limits on these but hopefully they'll stock more soon. It happens all the time with anything collectible, not just Disney. I wish people would quit buying on Ebay for this kind of stuff and remove the demand.

There are many that sold for $40 and $50 too. For a $13.50 investment, I would have bought as many as I was allowed to buy as well. I sold all 3 sets of our MNSSHP cards for almost $90 on ebay. Helped cut the cost of those expensive Halloween day party tickets . Also, sold our AP magnet for $40. Those 2 cases are slightly different than the popcorn bucket as I was not directly taking away the opportunity for others to purchase a limited item. But, if Disney allowed him to buy that many, then I am leaning towards he didn't really do anything wrong. I don't know if I would have bought 50 though, maybe 10.

Exactly. A sale is a sale. Should have been there sooner if you wanted one. All Disney is out for is your $$. It may have cost Disney $2 to produce those.

Yes, some sold higher but there are plenty in the $30 range to be had was my point.

I don't think he did anything wrong either. The problem isn't the people selling them, it's the people buying them. If there were no demand, they wouldn't do it. Then again, I don't think Disney is awful for not putting stricter limits on them. It's just the way it is. Really, even with stricter limits those who re-sell would find a way to get them. The only solution was to produce more and for whatever reason- they didn't. I don't believe it was to create false demand that they could not satisfy. My overriding thought on this is- it's just a popcorn bucket. Maybe that was theirs too. ;)

What's the diffence between this and say the playstation 3 when that came out. I remember preordering 2 of them. One for me and one to sell. I was able to sell the 2nd one for $1500 and I decided to sell mine for $1600. I could have preordered 10 of them if I wanted (which there were many that did). You can't be mad at anyone.

WDW is in the business to make money. My guess is they have been burned on large quantity orders (Dumbo anyone?) and put in a small order initially (several months before the movie release this year).

The company that I work for purchases an item for give away that comes out of China. I know where the phrase slow boat from China comes from. We waited 15 months for our last shipment.

2 wouldn't be a good number for some families as they have 3 little girls (who gets to be odd man out)? Also I can see them getting scooped up to use for little girl Easter baskets so maybe that added to why they disappeared so fast.

Remember, there was a dock strike on the West coast. Even though the strike is over, there are many containers of items still waiting to get to their destination.

Those things look like they would be a bi@tch to ship. Those wheels look so fragile.
I would imagine a lot of those sellers having to refund due to shipping damage so maybe karma will bite them in the butt.

So you hope those people who buy them off eBay receive them damaged.....real nice. That's what insurance is for.

While the purchasers may have done nothing wrong, there is something to be said about not being a glutton and hogging all the merchandise.

I can understand why Disney or any company does a limited release (or whatever label). But this seems too limited. I think blame can be shared. Maybe this was limited because they only wanted to sell opening weekend. And maybe they need to change this 25 cap.

And maybe Popcorn bucket guy needs to not buy out all the souvenirs to line his pockets. As far as comparing it to limited release and insane eBay resales for other product outside of Disney--I think that is lame as well. It may be legal. But it doesn't mean I have to like it.

uhhhh no, i'm saying that these sellers who are greedy will likely have quite a bit that are received damage and they will have to refund their buyers. They can probably get insurance money back which will cover the refund to customer but then they're still out the money they paid getting them from the parks.
