Is it realistic to get a DVC rental ?

I'm new to the idea of DVC renting but it sounds like a great way to save money. I am looking for a villa size removed (preferably in resort removed, but may be flexible). We would prefer to have a kitchen though it is a small fortune. Is it realistic to get a reservation or rent points and use them soon?

BTW, I've been to Disney lots of times, but not in about 10 yrs. I know the basics about the parks, disney transport, etc.

Thanks,

Sorry, probably not.

Your best bet would be to try to rent for AKV Savannah (big resort), BWV preferred (ditto), OKW, or SSR. SSR might be the only place with availability at this point.

If you are flexible as to resort and view yes if not no.

The best way to find out is to reply to a "Points for Rent" thread on the DVC Rent/Trade Board to see if any owner can assist with your reservation. You can also respond to "Reservation for Rent" threads, but those are not posted until 30 days prior to any arrival date and may not be flexible regarding resort, room type or dates.

I'd just post what you are looking for on some "Points for Rent" threads and see what happens. The further in advance you begin looking, the better chance for success since the closer you get to arrival date, the less available inventory.

I don't know how "soon" soon is. It is relative off season, so you might find something. The lucky thing is that within 7 months, any DVC member can book any resort.

As said, look through the rental board here. Figure out how many points you need and look for as matching renter.

Good luck!

DVC owners can book their home resort 11 months out, and any DVC resort with availability at 7 months out...and many do plan that far ahead.

so finding something even 4-5 months out can be a challenge sometimes...
