to rent a car, for only 1 day, and be able to pick it up and return it on Disney property? We are staying at the WL, and only want the car for one day. I read in one of the guidebooks that this was an option but the logistics were not explained. Help,please!

Yes you can through National (nationalcar.com). They have rental locations by MK, which closes at 6:00p, and at the Swan/Dolphin, which closes at 3:45p. They will pick you up and drop you on-site before and after your rental. HTH
