Hey Guys,

I searched the boards and could find the answer if this is possible or not. We currently hold SoCal AP's and my wife won some SoCal City Passes at her Christmas raffle. I chatted online with Disney help and they said I can use the City Passes to upgrade to AP's but not use the value of the tickets towards renewal. Anyone no if this is true?

You can't use the price of admission towards a renewal. You could apply the price of admission towards a new AP. If the City Passes were free, it's a better deal than renewing because even though you lose the renewal discount you get more money towards the APs. But since So Cal APs are renewal only right now you'd have to go to a different level pass.

That's a bummer I can't use the towards renewal. City Pass is valued at $275 so the difference for me to renew SoCal ap's would have been $164 which is a good deal to me. If i can't apply towards renewal and have to purchase a new ap. The deluxe would cost us $324 out of pocket and we'll lose our parking pass as well. Sounds like a horrible trade off to me.

I would go to a ticket booth and explain what you want to do.

Back in Aug 2012 I used a NEW Deluxe AP voucher to renew my existing Deluxe AP. According to Disney's rules, they are not suppose to do that, but they did if for me no questions asked. They even reimbursed me $20 on a Disney Gift Card to compensate me for not getting a renewal discount!

It never hurts to try.

If they still say no, you can always sell the CityPass since its unused. You should be able to get close to market value for it.

Try it before your AP expires. You never know if you'll get a cast member who will let you do it!

Thanks Ryan. It never hurts to give it a try and see. Merry Christmas!
