Is it possible to upgrade to concierge (usage) if you are renting points for a BWV?

I am considering planning another trip to go to Boardwalk during the food and wine festival, and was thinking of renting points as I've been considering buying into the Disney Vacation club for a couple years, but I really don't want to miss out on Boardwalk's concierge experience. Is it possible to receive a paid upgrade for usage of the concierge lounge if you are renting points? Has anyone ever done this at Wilderness Lodge or Beach club, either? I remember when checking into Beach club concierge last November, a family staying in DVC had their reservation mixed up, and for compensation, the desk offered them concierge access. I'd love to be able to combine these options if possible. Thanks for any info!

I am pretty sure the answer is "no." Too bad, cuz that would be cool. Anyway, i am no authority on the subject...I bet you would get a better response on the DVC board.

There is no concierge at BWV, VWL or BCV. If you want concierge on points, you can stay at GF and AKL, but it is not a good use of points. Points is points and cash is cash and never the twain shall meet.

As Deb & Bill said, there are no concierge accommodations at DVC resorts.

And none of the "parent" resorts (which have concierge service) of DVC resorts are available to book using points. So BWI, BC and WL are not available to reserve using DVC points.

What about paying for use of the lounge? I plan on staying in the BWV that I rent, but I'd like access to the lounge and would pay for that service. I guess it's a longshot

Why not try emailing or calling the BWI and asking? I haven't heard of anyone doing it either and I agree it is probably a longshot but who knows for sure? Perhaps you would just be charged the difference between a concierge BWI room and a regular BWI room.

Is the concierge lounge at BWI anywhere near the BWV? I would be concerned about being so far away that the lounge would be too inconvenient.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if you're not in a studio why would you need the lounge? You can make a grocery trip for goodies much cheaper (or even order room service) and enjoy your refreshments in your very own private lounge (your living room or balcony) to enjoy whenever you like! We've stayed concierge before at AKL and aside from the special safaris, we didn't think the lounge was anything to write home about. I'd much rather have the one bedroom DVC unit and buy our own goodies.

I just wanted to agree that I'd rather throw a 1/2 case of cokes and another 1/2 case of belgian beer in to my own fridge than go to the concierge lounge. Throw in a some cookies and we won't have to worry about getting back to the lounge before they are gone for the evening. And frankly, its just as easy to call disney dining from the room for a PS as it is to ask the concierge desk for one; still have to talk to somebody. We enjoyed staying at concierge at the polly before owning dvc, but now that seems like more of a pain to me than a benefit. Don't get me started on that mess they added on the top floor of the wl.

Lord help, next thing I'll be saying that I'd rather stay in those big rooms at old key west and park right outside than go to one of those hotel dvcs and have to valet.

Well, considering that the Concierge lounge is in the BW Inn which is a WDW resort hotel, and the BW Villas are part of DVC which is a completely different Walt Disney Company from the Resorts people, I'd guess the answer is probably no.

BTW, do you have any idea of how long of a walk it would be to go from your typical DVC villa over to the hotel side. That's in a completely different building on the other side of the main entrance.

There was a post from someone about a year ago claiming they were quoted a fee of $75 per guest, PER NIGHT to add concierge access to a DVC room reservation at the Beach Club. I don't recall if the poster specified whether the reservation was on points or cash. Regardless, I agree wholeheartedly that the location of the concierge lounge makes for a pretty disappointing experience.

Wow - and for $75/person/night you could buy a LOT of goodies! You could even order room service for every meal and still come out ahead!

we got upgraded for free to concierge from BWV to BWI one year at xmas due to the fact that the room we had was smoke ridden and with a son with astma we got upgraded for 12 nights over the xmas to new year period

My "gut" is that you probably could upgrade if you want. They DO allow "regular" guests to pay for the concierge level services (although, I am not sure why you would want to, when even for a BWI person it would involve an elevator ride to get to the "goodies". If I am paying, I want on that floor!).

However....it could be a REALLY long walk to get to the concierge lounge from a DVC room. It would most likely include TWO elevator rides and a pretty substantial walk. I agree...why would you want to do that?

However...it is YOUR call. If you want it, ask when you check in....I bet you can have it for the right $$$$$$.

Yes, it does sounds much better to just get spoodles or the bakery if you're going to have to walk that much anyway. It is helpful to know if it is possible, though. Thanks for all the responses!

I was staying at the BWI a few years ago before I became a DVC member. We were upgraded to the Concierge level because there were no other rooms available. I enjoyed the breakfasts, snacks and wine but I feel it is not worth paying extra for the service unless you are celebrating a special occasion. I recall our room being a long haul from the main elevator and the lounge was a few doors past our room. Lisa Loeb was performing at the concert hall that week and she did an interview in the Concierge lounge, they wouldn't let us in but we stood in the hall and listened as she performed one of her songs. There was no charge for the musical entertainment.
