Is it possible to temporarily book the studio section of a 2BR lockoff?

I currently have a 1 bedroom booked for about a week. I would like to have a connecting studio booked for about 3-4 nights. I do NOT want to have to move from my 1 bedroom mid-trip. Is there a way to do this through member services?

Either:
  1. Book a studio on points or cash discount and have it associated/connected to my 1BR?
  2. Have a 1BR to 2BR lock-off to 1BR? Unfortunately, the only lock-off availability is mid-trip.
Thanks in advance!

No, you can not do that. The only way to guarantee you have a 1 bedroom and studio connect is to book it as a 2 bedroom lock off.

You can always request to be close or connect if you book separately, but no guarantees as it all depends on checking and check outs etc.

My guess is DVC actively discourages this because booking a 1 bedroom and studio separately is cheaper than booking the 2 bedroom lock-off. If you could book them separately and put in a request to be a lock-off, there would not be a need for a 2-bedroom lock-off category except for convenience, like the near hospitality house category at OKW.

Actually, a 1BR and studio separately is quite a few more points than a 2BR lock-off, I think they just won't do it because the rooms are specific booking categories, and if that category isn't available, they won't 'create' a room category - like in the OPs scenario.

To add, if this was possible, it means those on waitlists for 2 bedrooms have a much lower chance of it matching too.

drat i had it backwards, thanks...

If you start in the lock-off then there is a chance it could happen. My suggestion would be going to the front desk when you arrive to note your desire to stay in the 1BR on your change over day. Then the day of I would once again go to the front desk and just double check everything is good.

Calling in they could put a note on it but I would trust it more in person.

If its the flip then its really going to be a long shot. The more rooms in the resort the better odds but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
