If there is availability, yes you can. Keep in mind that if you had a discount, there's a very good chance that the discount will not apply to the new resort and you will be paying rack rate.
You can ask them, but I often see them referring the guest back to the booking line to check availability. I think if you're considering doing this to try and do it before you check in.
