We are wanting to go to Universal one day from the Contemporary and wondering if we can fit 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids (15,10,4)) in a taxi or are we going to have to get a shuttle or towncar service to get there?

TIA
Laura

Hi Laura,

If you tell them you have 5 passengers they will likely send over a minivan....

At the contemporary, ask the bellstand for a Mears Taxi van, and they will oblige you. Your group will not fit in a taxi sedan. When you return from Universal ask the taxi starter there for a van, also. He will oblige you. They are on meters and so cost the same as a sedan. Mears also has the taxi stand at Universal.

We have 5 in our party and no we can't fit in a regular taxi. The cab drivers are very accomidating. If you see one waiting for a fare they will even radio in to have a van sent for you. This tended to shorten the wait over having them call for one at the cab stands.

I saw where (at some college) they fit 20 people in a Volkswagon! :rotfl:
Don't know if they are used for taxis at WDW though. :confused3
You might want to request a van to be on the safe side. :thumbsup2

At Disney, Universal and Sea World they use Mears Transportation exclusively. Mears uses the Ford Crown Vic and the Mercury Marquis for the sedans. The sedans hold 4 people comfortably. Another adult person is pushing it. The vans are 7 passenger Ford vans.
