Is it possible to buy a DVD player only for the car?

Our DVD player doesn't work anymore. It is the kind made specifically for cars (regular kind skip or stop with car motion).

We have headrest monitors already in place and they work. So I really only want to replace the DVD player but I DO NOT WANT an in-dash dvd player because I really like by stereo system with the ability to keep 6 cds in there, etc...

Do they even make them anymore? I can't find it ANYWHERE!

Also, if you know about auto dvd players, are the plugs from the headrest monitors universal or do I need a specific DVD player with certain plugs.

We use our ipod video in the car. Have it hooked up to the screens. Sooo much easier and much more convenient than dvd's.

most DVDs have inputs for an external monitor that are universal. At least outs did.

Yes, they do make DVD players for cars. You just to find one that works on 12v and not 120v. Car DVD plays tend to be more compact and with basic features.

You will need to disconnect the video cables and plug them into the new DVD player.

How many movies does your ipod hold and how much is each download and how long does each download take in terms of time?

We typically just get Redbox movies for the kids and find a redbox return somewhere at the location we are heading.

I bought a new complete stereo system (stereo and speakers) for my wifes taurus (This was about 8 years ago). They are very good about knowing what would fit my wifes car. They had a "plug in" wire harness and instructions that were specific to the ford taurus. They also provided the specific tools (anti theft) required to get out the old radio.

It made the installation easy.

I think they should be able to help if you tell them exactly what you have and what you want to do. I recall that they are very helpful on the phone (but this was 8 years ago and things change so I suggest call them and see what you think). The question to ask yourself, "if I have a problem does it sound like they will help me?"

Update:

Thanks guys! I ordered the $99 one as that is all we need. I also found a code for $20 off any $100 order so I added in some rechargeable batteries for my camera and got $20 off the order!
