Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

Both took different lessons from their parents marriage.
William: Take your time, get to know each other, make sure you are suited for each other.
Harry: Live life to the fullest and love with all your heart.

Maybe. The fact that someone chooses to take their time, get to know a prospective partner and make sure they are suited isn't mutually exclusive of the idea that one can also believe in living life to the fullest and loving with all their heart. IMO it's much easier living my life to the fullest and loving my husband with all l my heart because I know we are perfectly suited for one another.

From the comments that Harry has made about no one wanting the job of monarch, it seems odd he would be so resistant to the idea that his spouse should have had eyes wide open what it meant to join the family as a working royal if that's the path he was on. I wonder if he was feeling a real pull to wanting a partner and a family himself while he was watching William's enjoyment of his family and he put a lot of pressure on himself to get the ball rolling ASAP?

Well no matter how much of a jerk Mark Phillips ended up being (Anne's ex...) it does seem he, Anne and Zara are all involved with their horses/riding together on the home estate.

Hmmm...as a "boss" myself; having had at least one disgruntled employee over the years, I personally need a lot more detail on specific situations before I immediately label them toxic employers. There's just so much subjectivity in workplace issues, real and perceived on the part of both staff and management.

This is supposedly what caused the riff between William and Harry. They still shared staff at the time and the incidents were reported to HR. It's blown up and investigation has been launched. Meghan's treatment of staff was described as "'emotional cruelty and manipulation', which had reduced them to tears and left them 'shaking' with fear." Rumor has it this came forward because M&H are trashing the former employees in the Oprah interview.

Yet Harry and Meghan can broadcast whatever they want.

Meghan is a better actress than I’d have thought. She plays victim while looking at whichever camera catches her best angle. My predictions for the Oprah interview are that MM’s eyes will “well up with tears” but those tears will never actually run down her face, as that would run her expert makeup job. Heaven knows she’ll never become quite so emotional as to get snotty and red nosed, even when discussing whatever it is she classifies as almost unsurvivable. Her voice will quiver as she looks at Oprah “earnestly” with big doe eyes. She will gaze upon Harry with a look of adoration a man could only dream of. She will act, act, act and do whatever it takes to promote her brand. And everyone else, from the Royal Family to their staff to her family, will be the ones who caused her pain....she was a victim. Harry will unfortunately rely on the memory of his mother one too many times.

My take is that Harry was always needy and was getting a little broody, having been turned down by two former girlfriends. MM was a minor actress pushing 40 whose career was never going to get her the level of fame and influence she wanted. She expertly reeled him in, and he was only too happy to have it happen. She is the boss, and he’s fine with that. I do not believe she ever had ANY intention of staying on as a working royal, with all the duties, responsibilities, and restrictions that entails. But she’s smart enough to never admit that joining the Royal Family was a means to an end. For her, it’s mission accomplished.

MM is no Diana. Reportedly William and Harry were taught by their Mum and Dad to respect their staff. H&M's behavior is considered scandalous..rivaling the Abdication. They must be proud.

I just keep thinking what a terrible idea this whole Oprah interview is!

I mean, Harry knows how painful public mudslinging is (he's & M have even condemned it publicly themselves) and now here they are effectively dragging his family through that mud. For what? The publicity?

It's not as if they haven't already had their say. They have made many public statements, though which they have made their thoughts and feelings known. There's no need for us to know even more and they certainly don't need to go this far for their charitable endeavors. They're not really setting the record straight - there are too many questions and have been too many contradictions to believe everything they say just because they say it.

Also, the reports of staff allegedly being mistreated aren't new, but they probably would have stayed quiet if H & M hadn't insisted on trying to have the final word on this mess.

I can't help but think that their "service"/charitable projects would have benefitted more from them taking a higher road.

(Of course, IF the bullying allegations are true, they shouldn't stay completely buried, but could have been dealt with behind the scenes.)

I would think his family are very worried about him, not because he left, but because of how he is still trying to hit out and what that suggests. The quiet months of last year were the perfect opportunity for the two of them to start with a clean sheet and focus on carving a more professional public image for their foundation.

ETA: Meghan was actually welcomed well by the public at large in the beginning (media aside for a moment) and their wedding was very well supported. I think if they had genuinely chosen to move on, the public would, in not too much time, have moved on with them.

Absolutely. A big part of aristocratic & royal tradition is to treat the staff with respect, a.k.a. noblesse oblige. Both Diana and Charles had devoted staff who still speak well of them decades later. During the "War of the Waleses", staff felt like they had to choose sides in the marital battle, which could get uncomfortable, but the staff themselves didn't feel targeted, belittled or threatened.

Diana mentioned once that the main thing her father taught her was "not to throw my weight around". That's a lesson Miss Markle really needs to learn.
