Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

Oh those selfish ex royals... thinking only of themselves and their interview with Oprah while living it up in America.... Meghan scheming away.... hmmmm what can I do next.... oooh I know.... how about aid to Texas!!

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/megh...mens-shelter-texas_n_603326a9c5b6cc8bbf3ca0ae
"Meghan Markle and Prince Harry lent their support over the weekend to a women’s shelter devastated by storms in Texas, following a week of major announcements from the royal couple.
Through their nonprofit Archewell Foundation, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex provided relief to Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, an organization that helps families affected by domestic violence. The Dallas shelter had experienced significant flooding amid the state’s rolling power outages.

Meghan and Harry’s donation will help the organization with immediate needs, roof damage and additional repairs at a transitional housing facility called Annie’s House. "

Yes Prince Harry and his Mrs should be there as family. But hopefully they will give her a spot at the back to stand on. Will be interesting to see the body language between William and Harry.

:laughing:That's hilarious. But I'm on the record in this thread in as being one that doesn't lay the blame for all of this on Meghan. None of it would be happening if Harry didn't choose it; the decisions were ultimately his to make and he made them.
I was thinking about this and the other comments about Harry being his own man, he's a grown up, his life. Would we have said this if the couple was gender flipped?
If we would have had a princess whose dream was a quite life away from the press in Africa, and who marries an actor who wants to live in the spotlight and isolates his wife from her family, friends, hobbies etc? Would we then also have said: Her life, her decision?

About the Commonwealth broadcast also on the 7th...
It comes across as a bit petty / counter attack, but thinking how much time it costs to plan these things with so many parties involved. I think it's likely this was the plan all along. At least, I hope it is.

Isn’t this exactly what we say in response to Princess Mako?
I had never thought about princess Mako, didn't even know there was a princess Mako ;-) Luckily we have wikipedia!
I think Japan is a little different, as it is already stated by law that she will lose her title and become a commoner when she marries a commoner. So the groom already knows in advance the advantages of marrying a princess are limited.

I think this is whole thing with Harry is sad... his mother gave so much to keep him and his brother together, by showing them the real world and yet gave them their birthrights...it's like he is thumbing his nose at her... and what she had to put up with Charles... and for him to treat William like this - he has abandon his brother, as well as his country and his responsibilities and duty... including his Grandmother and Diana's family the Spencer's... Shame on him... he needs to man up and take control of his life... no straddling the fence mate... either you are in or your out...

All so that Megan can stay in the lime light for a while longer, and be current... is just sad...and I really feel that his mother would have some strong thoughts on this whole thing...

Megan is a actress, and a mediocre one at that and they crave attention, the applause and lime light, the stardom and fighting to remain relevant at all times..
She was getting all this attention, once the wedding was over, she moved to the back page... She thought she would take center stage... Nope, she will always be standing behind Kate... its how the line of succession and the royal family works ...

When William becomes King and Kate Queen Consort ( I think that is the correct term)... She and Harry would have to bow and curtsy to them and this would never be something that Megan would do... the whole statement to the press is her attempt to remain relevant...

I wonder what they got paid for this chat with Oprah... I know that they are saying they aren't getting paid... which you know they are... They want to work so why not get paid for talking smack about ones family, they should get paid just like anyone else that give interviews with her...Acting like your not in this for the cash is dumb so say you are and just move along...

Wouldn't you think that they would want a British reporter to give their side of the story... instead of a American talk show host...?

My question would be if Prince Charles pulled all his allowances, and no money from the crown how long do you think that Megan would stay around?

Harry is damaged goods and easily manipulated There was a time I pitied him. He's gone from Poor Harry to Stupid Harry in my opinion. I feel bad for the entire family especially the Queen. Although it's partly her fault for overindulging her grandson. H&M are toxic and the Royals need to wash their hands of them completely. Harry and his kids need to be removed from the line of succession too.

An extremely insulting way to describe anyone.

Wasn't meant to be insulting. Harry has unresolved issues relating to his Mother's death and the aftermath. He has discussed this in interviews. It's likely at least one of the reasons he chose someone like Meghan.

If circumstances are unchanged why let them ruin the event? MM will be there for one reason only. She's very transparent.

Wench? What an odd visual that is.

I have no doubt that these decisions are jointly expressed and perceived that way as well. Whether or not they are genuinely jointly desired seems to be the question of the moment.

What always sticks way back in the corner of my mind is that it took the Duke nearly 6 years of Army service to reach the rank of Captain. That's ... unusual. One of the most genuine things I ever recall seeing him say is how much he loved serving in the Army, but all evidence shows us that this is not a driven sort of man.

PS: The decision to change the Commonwealth remembrance and air it the previous day was made 3 weeks ago. Presumably all of the parties directly involved in this whole process have known about it for some time. Also, the response from the Sussexes to the Queen's remarks would have been prepared with foreknowledge as well; you don't come up with that kind of formally worded reply off the cuff in under 3 minutes, which is how the response was timed.

Anyone else think Princess Beatrice & Princess Eugenie due to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex exit will become senior members of the royal family?

It was reported that Oprah was involved with the M & H response. Who knows but it did appear to be very calculated.

The one I have noticed a lot lately is Sophie—married to Edward. Since the Sussexes have been gone it seems that she has been taking on a bigger role, but possible I just missed her before.

That's interesting.
As the interview was filmed before them stepping down, and before having to give back their charities, including being president & vice president of the Commonwealth Youth Ambassadors. I wondered how they had pictured this? According to the media they had tried to keep the Oprah interview a secret and it only came out because CBS asked ITV for the Bradby interview. Was their plan really to have it aired on the 7th and then on the 8th say via Zoom (I assume they would attend the ceremony via Zoom or something "So, did you watch CBS last night?".
The deadline for the Megxit was the 31st of March.

Meghan had two long relationships with handsome men before Harry, men with good, interesting, in a way influential careers. Only nothing like marrying a British prince.
One of her ghosted friends wrote in her biography one of Meghan's aims to come to the UK was to find a famous Brit for her next relationship. "Do you know any famous guys? I’m single and I really love English men."
About that hornets nest, that's what her British friends had warned her for. With that in mind, being in her mid thirties, having seen the world, knowing what has happened to Diana, she must be incredibly in love, naive or calculating to get into this relationship.

I think there is a lot to win for Meghan, but it's a dangerous game she is playing. The Oprah interview can jump start her career in the US, which wouldn't have happened if she hadn't married Harry, or it can be a disaster.
If it is a success then within a year or two their charity and media company will be huge. And then we will see if the rumors are true that Meghan has the ambition to have a political career / become a US president. If it's a disaster... then at least they have each other?

In my opinion, it says a lot about Meghan that she allegedly was looking for a famous guy for her next relationship...instead of finding somebody who would be a good 'fit' with her.

The new set up is dubbed 'The Magnificient Seven". The senior royals are: Prince of Wales (Charles), Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla), Princess Royal (Anne) Duke & Duchess of Cambridge (William & Kate), Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex.
Most likely: Edward will take over The National Theater, Anne will take over Harry's military ranks, William the Rugby charities.
There are only not enough senior royals to take over all patrons, so maybe juniors like Beatrice and Eugenie will step in?
