Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

I wonder how Meghan or Gayle think they are helping the situation with this.
You would think that they have picked up that one thing why things didn't work out is because the US has a different pace than the royal family (generalization). When you want to achieve something with the royal family you have to run things slow and private.

i think privacy has an altogether different meaning in M’s world.

I'm sure the Queen is finding this whole thing totally distasteful.
She is a monarch who has been able to move with the times to a certain degree. But tit for tat airing your dirty linen in public is really not the done thing.

I'm sure she's baffled by the whole thing. Even the verbiage these reporters use now..."saving the receipts"...sounds more like a mafia hoodlum threat than something a reporter would say.

We are really living through a strange time. And to think, I thought the 60s were a wild ride...lol

Those were the days my friend

On a constructive note...
These two warring parties could really make this all good. H&M don't need to have a competitive court, but could instead have a complementary court. They should do their valuable philanthropic work on days other than when the royal family are doing important functions. They should speak kindly of their relatives. They could be a beloved American branch of a famous family. There's plenty of work to be done by all. And plenty of positive ways to remain in the public eye.

Someone help me out. Is ""saving the receipts" just a euphemism for keeping proof? Or is it something else?

It makes me think of someone keeping a dossier on their relatives. Not flattering to the one keeping those receipts.
That's not even the worst. I am sure everyone keeps receipts in one way or another. You remember in a way who did you favours and which people you should not let into your life too much.
The bad thing is telling people you are keeping track (with or without physical evidence) of their actions and will use it against them.

I am sure both M&H and the Royal Family keep records of what is going on with who and why. Only in certain games, it's best to keep your cards close to your chest. [insert Game of Thrones quote]

No chance they ever have an honest conversation with Harry or Meghan ever again.
Nope. The trust has been broken. Trust is something that once broken, cannot be repaired. William can never unwatch that interview.

Can you imagine the balancing act William is going to have to pull off in July if Harry shows up for the statue unveiling? He'll have to:
  1. Try to control his rage to avoid disgracing the family with an obvious altercation, and
  2. Be nice enough to Harry (no way will Meghan bother to show up) to avoid provoking H & M's wrath, and
  3. Not be too nice to avoid being disloyal to his own wife, who H & M have publicly trashed, and to avoid being seen as a wimpy pushover by the British public, most of whom don't believe Meghan, and
  4. Somehow, try to keep the public focus of this event on his late mother (and let's face it, that's a vain hope).

I guess it depends when Harry and Meghan's second baby is due as to whether he will come over. They just said the baby is due in the summer, no specific date or even month. Either way, I wouldn't expect Meghan to come along.

I absolutely CAN NOT wait for the hilarious thread in July. It'll be like Christmas morning. Hopefully she comes too because that will be incredible comedy gold right here.
She had already announced in February that she wouldn't be coming over for the Diana Statue, the Troops, and the birthdays of the queen and the Duke of Edinborough. Later it became clear that this was because she is with child.
So like with the Sandringham Summit, Harry is on his own to do the dirty work.

I don't think Meghan will return to Britain, ever. She got what she wanted from that country and now she's back home in southern California where she always wanted to be.

Yes I wondered about the word receipts too. I thought it might be an American phrase?
A receipt here in the UK is what you get when you purchase something at a store.

It's from current pop culture, though I couldn't tell you where it originated. I've seen it often on gossip sites, Tumblr, etc.
