Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

That's the thing with racism, because so many people are involved, you can never speak for the entire group. Like the Lord Lieutenant above, there are more black people speaking out (and the Daily Mail does her best to find as many as she can ;-) ), siding #TeamRoyalFamily, and there are some siding with #TeamHarry&Meghan. There will never be 100% consensus.

The most important thing is that it does get addressed and we keep talking.

To play devil’s advocate for a second, the royal family makes their personal business the world’s business. They announce their engagements and pregnancies, broadcast their weddings and funerals, display their newborns to the press for photo ops, and have the paparazzi accompany their kids to their first days of school. They can’t then expect full privacy when other significant events happen in their family that may be less flattering, like divorce, or sex scandals, or people stepping away from their roles. The public will be curious, and the royals involved may feel compelled to tell their side of things since it’s their reputation at stake. Those born into it didn’t ask to have that fame, the royal family did that to them, and occasionally someone will understandably feel the need to “set the record straight” on the world stage because their entire lives have played out on the world stage thanks to the royal family.
I think you flatter yourself that you might be part of the Royal Family's target audience!
As HM The Queen is head of state for the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries the announcements are to keep us up to date with what is going on in our "first family" and we very much appreciate being kept informed. The fact that many others in the rest of the world want to listen and pay attention to that information is interesting but secondary.

Exactly.

They could have had the broadcast delayed easily. So what if there was a contract -- it wasn't like it was being recorded live, it could have waited. And had Oprah not complied, they could show evidence that they had at least tried.

They let that accusation simmer rather than dealing with it in the interview, or immediately following the interview. But even today American networks are blaming the Queen for the comment and painting the entire family as racist.
But if they delayed the broadcast and he died? Think about that. No way could they have shown it at that point. I suppose anyway.

But letting that accusation simmer was just awful. That's not something someone who truly loves his grandparents allows to happen.

Who is or isn’t part of their target audience makes no difference to my post you quoted.

In my opinion, the whole thing has just gotten creepy. They're sending out surrogates to claim how they have texts and things to prove their claims..."receipts."
Yecch, yecch and double yecch. Who threatens to make public the private messages sent among family? It's being reported that the Queen will talk with them. How the heck can she, when they're probably recording the conversation? She certainly can't be candid with them.

They've broken every rule of family -- royal or not. Their behavior is inexcusable.

I was thinking about that. The Queen won't be able to have an open relaxed conversation with them ever again. Neither will other family members. The trust is broken.

Current and potential business partners should be watching how H&M operate. I don’t think the two of them have any concept of or concern for confidentiality.

I agree. I suspect a lot of attorneys are getting calls right now from people who have done business with them or were planning to. They are a hot commodity right now because of rampant curiousity, so there will certainly be people who want to ride the coat-tails of the buzz, but I think those people will be a lot more careful now about the wording of their contracts. "Handshake deals" are definitely not a good idea.

Yea the whole scorched earth thing does not play well on Wall Street. Maybe it is embraced in Hollywood. Won’t have the same cache on Main Street.
