DH and I are thinking we would like to go down for a long weekend the first weekend in May. When I look up just the dates we want it shows the campgrounds are sold out but if I look up a week that includes that weekend then it is open. So my question is can I book that week and then in a few weeks cancel only the days we don't need? Just wondering if this is possible. Anyone ever done this?

It seems the only way to get a reservation these days. But please cancel the days you don't need very soon after, so someone else can pick them up.

That's what we did to get our days. We reserved and called the next day and cancelled the days we didn't want. :thumbsup2

I think lots of people are finding this is the only way to get your dates. Doesn't make sense, but oh well???? :confused3

Happy Camping!

We do this all the time also. Doesn't make much sense, but we gotta do what we gotta do to stay in the Fort!! And please cancel the days you don't want shortly after you make your ressie. That way someone who may need those days will get it too!!

For short visits , thats eems to be the only way to get dates.
I do it too,,but I cancel the dates I don't need a couple days later, (not weeks)
Hava great time :thumbsup2

The Louisiana state park system does this only when you call to cancel the unwanted days, you forfeit a whole night's fee! Crazy!!
