Is it okay if I booked an ADR for someone else and I won't be there?

For my wedding week I've been trying to help my parents with dining, they are completely lost. So I made them some dining reservations that I have no intention of going to. They'll be going with a bunch of different family so I can't update the guest list because half the people going I don't have on my friends and family list. Will they have any issues when they show up without me? Or do they just give my name when they get there?

As long as someone checks in under the name of the reservation it is fine. They don't check your ID to see if it matches. Is the reservation just for the 2 of them? you mention other family going as well. Or will everyone else have their own reservations? The only issue is if they are eating at one restaurant at say 6:00pm but you have plans yourself to eat at another restaurant at 6:00pm the system will not allow two reservations at the same time.

It'll be my parents, my brother, and a couple cousins. I made a reservation for 6. I actually made their reservations after I had finalized all of mine so I just put them at an hour and 5 minutes so it wasn't at too weird an hour. I tried to have my parents do it, I had them set up accounts, but they were way too confused about everything and my cousins have never been so I figured it would just be easier to do it myself.

They just need to give them your name and they will have no issues.

I also have helped some who are less than technologically gifted. I eventually logged in to their MDE account and made ADRs and fastpasses on their behalf. They show up as the lead, they get any emails associated with the plans. Since it is your parents, they might be comfortable enough with that.

I would also make sure they understand the cancellation/no show policy since it’s reserved with your credit card.
Yup...that was going to be my suggestion.

A $60 no-show fee would be a kick in the pants if they just decided to blow it off.
That is a good point I need to stress the no show fee and make sure they still go.

For future reference, you can make a reservation in someone else’s name in your MDE account.
Oh I didn’t know that. I thought since I was making it I had to be on the reservation

I was trying to get info out of them of where they wanted to eat but they weren’t very helpful before the 180 window opened so I just made it for them. It’s during a really busy time so I didn’t want them to be without anything. For future trips this would be a good idea

Have you looked to see if an ADR for 6 at these restaurants is still available? If so (and if you are concerned about the no-show fee), I would go into their MDE account (with their permission, of course) and re-book the reservations under their credit card and then cancel the ones in your account. If the ADR's aren't available, you can also try cancelling the reservation in your account and immediately look for it in your parents' account. With a few refreshes, it should pop up. That's the technique used by most on these boards when people are cancelling reservations and attempt to release them to others. Personally, it would stress me out to know a no-show was a possibility at $60 per ADR.

I’ll check and see if it is available, but I feel like it won’t be since it’s so many people and a super busy time. I don’t think they’ll just not show up especially since they don’t really know much about Disney restaurants and wouldn’t know where else to go. I will stress to them the amount of money I will get charged if they don’t go though
