Is it OK to go to a party and not buy anything?

Instead of bringing a hostess gift ask her if you can bring a snack item to contribute. That was always my favorite request. If I had a friend who said "I won't buy but I'll come, what can I bring?" I'd ask them to bring their favorite dip or a dessert item. They always did and it helped so much!! I would NEVER accept a gift because I invited someone to a home sale party but I happily accepted food donations. I actually did this a few times as well, brought a favored snack but most times I still ended up buying something small.

I had a couple of parties that NO ONE came to, it was so embarrassing! The consultants didn't seem to mind and I still placed a small order. I had a couple of consultants that did the rounds of our group of friends, in the instances that I had 5 people or less these 2 consultants would combine my party with someone else's to increase our sales and then she would let us divide up the hostess gifts. It always worked out for us.

that said, go but don't feel obligated to buy, when I was a hostess I truly wanted my friends to come so we could all have fun together, it wasn't an attempt at getting freebies for myself, it was just a "let's hang out and do this fun thing" type of thing. Enjoy yourself!!

Go! I used be a Tastefully Simple consultant and lots of people come to these kinds of parties and don't buy. The only time it EVER bothered me were the few times it was blatantly obvious that they just had the party so that I could "cater" it with my samples (ie one party had 15 guests and I had $75 in sales).

I have hosted lots of these parties mainly as a way to help out friends who are being new consultants or something like that. I typically could care less about how many "freebies" I get...I truly just like having and excuse to entertain! I also just went to a party where I had no intention of buying, but I actually ended up really liking some stuff once there, so you never know. I also find lots of unique gifts at these type of things.
