Over the last few weeks, I've been noticing more success stories as far as making reservations, some with shorter-than-usual time frames. I'm wondering if it's due to the economy, with folks cutting their number of trips, or whether it's due to holiday cheer, with less people in a complaining mood.

Or dare we say it's the new reservation system ?

Most likely all three are a factor. Although, while I am feeling the economy in a lot of aspects of life, my vacation planning and plans have not changed. I attribute this directly to being a DVC member.

We got our 1st choice at BWV on friday for our 4th of July trip no waitlists, EVEN July 4th still had openings at BWV! Last year we had to waitlist all the days.
I dunno could be several things but all all I know is we got our ressie

It could also be that the gazillion developer points that they gave away are mostly expired.

But we had no trouble making our summer reservations - and I did not call right at 7 months: BCV-VB-AKV

I wonder if people are taking advantage of the book 4, get 3 free sale with tickets through Dis? If we could travel between now and June 27, I would bank my points and take advantage of the offer. It's pretty amazing!!! I'm just bummed we can't travel during that time, and Spring Break is blacked out (which I fully understand).

That's what I was thinking. IIRC it has been over a year now since Developer's Points were issued that could be redeemed at ALL DVC resorts. Since Fall '07 the DPs have been stipulated as valid for SSR only.

IMHO, since SSR is the largest, it is best able to absorb the DP users. And members using their own points are having more success at the other resorts.
