Is it me, or are summer resort prices noticeably higher this year?

If the economy goes south and people stop going, there will be better discounts.

No doubt-for my first WDW trip in July,2003 they offered the "Fairytale Package" which was buy 4 nights and get 3 nights free plus a framed Mickey's Philharmagic(it was just about to debut) picture and special Philharmagic Pin(in the frame also).

Best WDW deal I have ever had!

Some of us felt the sticker shock years ago. Although it's true that price increases are nothing new, when you really notice it just depends on your personal finances the moment prices move above what you feel comfortable spending.

I do take much comfort knowing that it's because we have a strong economy at the moment. It's not like during the great recession when people were tightening their belts and skipping vacations. The recovery has been gradual, but it's telling how high occupancy is in both the hotels and the parks, even as the prices have gone up each year.

They also changed the pricing structure fairly recently. It used to be that the elevated rates were only for Fri and Sat night each week. Now the bump occurs on Thursday night and goes all the way through Sunday night. Fewer nights are now at the "low" rate each week...........so they can still advertise "rooms available for as little as XX per night"............and still increase their profit.
