to the beginning of my first ever trip report! I have been a lurker on the Dis since before my trip last year, but never really posted much. I love reading other peoples’ TRs to get me excited about upcoming trips, so I thought that it was finally time to contribute to the magic! I hope that by writing this report, I’ll be able to pump myself up before I leave, create a journal of everything I did while I was there, and ward off the Post-Disney Depression when I return.

But first, a little about me:

Hi! I’m Liz. I’m 23 years old living in Vermont and working in a bakery to pay the bills while I pursue my dream of becoming a food writer. And I’m completely obsessed with Disney! My family was never the type to take the annual Disney trip when I was a kid, but we traveled there at least once every five years or so and in later years started going on Disney cruises! Eventually my parents decided to buy into the DVC, and last year as a graduation present, they generously used their points to allow myself and my dBF, to stay at Bay Lake Towers and cruise on the Magic! It was such an amazing gift, and it fueled my passion for Disney even more to be able to experience it as a (sort of) adult!

My Favorite…

Park: Epcot
Rides: Splash Mountain, Tower of Terror, Spaceship Earth
Disney Movies: Toy Story, Little Mermaid, Tangled, Princess and the Frog, Pirates
Characters: Rapunzel, Woody, Donald Duck
Food from last trip: Ratatouille from the Wave, Mickey Waffle with bananas and caramel, Grand Marnier slush

Here are some things I want to do this trip that we didn’t get to do last time:

-Go to Animal Kingdom! We didn’t have time last trip.
-Explore New Fantasyland
-Eat a Mickey Bar on Main Street
-Ride Mission: Space (I was too scared last time!)

And who is my traveling companion on this adventure?

My dBF, Ian! We met during our first year of college and have been together for almost 3 years. Ian works as an IT assistant and programmer at a university. I am so lucky to have found someone who loves Disney as much as I do, but what made our trip together last year so exciting was that it was Ian’s first visit! So even though he loved all things Disney, he had never been to Disney World! He, of course, absolutely loved it and can’t wait to be back!

Ian’s Favorite…

Park: Magic Kingdom
Rides: Splash Mountain, Rock n Rollercoaster
Disney Movies: Aladdin, Lion King, Toy Story, Tangled, Ratatouille
Characters: Genie, Pascal, Timon and Pumbaa
Food from last trip: Seafood pasta from the Wave

Things Ian is hoping to do this trip that we didn’t do last trip:

-Spend more time in the parks
-Ride everything that was closed on our last visit (Big Thunder, Test Track) and ride TSMM because the wait was too long last time
-Visit New Fantasyland!
-Go to Animal Kingdom

Trip Details:

When: May 1-May 7

Where: All-Star Music

ADRs: Disney Dining Plan (1 snack, 1 CS, 1 TS/night)
Wed 5/1 Raglan Road
Thurs 5/2 The Wave
Sat 5/4 Boma
Sun 5/5 Kona Café
Mon 5/6 50’s Prime Time

You might notice that we’re missing a table service meal. We actually decided to use that on Wednesday, our arrival day, for lunch. We aren’t going to a park that day but instead plan to settle in and explore the Boardwalk, an area neither of us has been to before. We both love craft beer, and we’re really excited about trying Big River Grille and Brewing Works, which doesn’t take ADRs. The night we’re not using a TS credit we’re going to eat in Epcot at the Flower and Garden food booths! I am beyond thrilled about this plan because we are both foodies and love trying lots of new dishes. It will mean paying OOP, but we’ve budgeted for it and can’t wait to take our time eating our way around World Showcase!

And finally, here’s the story of why we decided to take this trip.

It had been a few months since our first trip together and neither of us could stop thinking about how much fun we had. We talked about that trip a lot, and knew we wanted to return together someday, but kept telling ourselves that we would go in February 2014. Then, we figured, New Fantasyland would be totally completed, including the Mine Train, and it would give us the opportunity to save up enough to take a really nice trip.

But you guys know it never works like that.

Once you’ve been bitten by the Disney bug, it never goes away. We knew we needed to get there sooner. Then Ian found out about the 30% off discount being offered at some of the resorts. He started researching heavily into how much it would cost if we were to stay for a week at various resorts, and came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be all that expensive. Every day he ran the numbers again, and we discussed hypothetically going. Suddenly it wasn’t just a game--we might actually be able to afford to go. After a couple weeks of stalling, one night Ian asked me outright--do you want to go on this trip? While I had been going back and forth for weeks, feeling guilty about spending the money but then justifying it to myself again, I said…YES!

Hope you have a Magical Time !

Our trips overlap somewhat, I will be there May 5-11. Can't wait, just updated my pre-trippee.
