Is it just me

Nope, it’s not just you. The prices are ridiculous! We are leaving for a two-week trip on August 1st, postponed from last year, but even before last year’s trip was supposed to happen, we knew it would be our last trip for awhile. We love Disney, but there is so much more out there beyond Disney and we have some great trips planned over the next three years, none of which are Disney. I will say, we are totally splurging this trip, so yes, we are part of the problem, but it’s been three years since our last trip and since we won’t be returning for some time, we are okay will paying what we are paying.

Next summer we have a two-week trip to South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore, Custer, Badlands NP), Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Rocky Mountain NP, staying in lodges in the parks (Old Faithful Inn, yay!), lots of fun things planned, and this summer’s trip is more than double the price I’ll be paying for next summer’s trip. I know the trips are totally different, but we just can’t justify the cost for Disney anymore, and I know we will love our out west trip just as much!
Make sure to make time for the Old Faithful lodge tour! And build in time to enjoy sitting around in the lobby, watching Old Faithful from the porch, etc. not just the basin around to resort (which of course is awesome too). We stayed at the lake for our honeymoon and returning to stay at the Inn was a bucket list thing! Really enjoyed it.

I agree with those saying it is basic supply and demand but it is just getting ridiculous what they are charging. I just looked at the Beach/Yacht and BWI for a trip in mid Dec (not Christmas week) and all of them were over $700 a night for a standard view room. Just crazy so many perks are gone and then to charge that price on top of that is just beyond reasonable.

Thought I’d be back there by now but the prices are just not sitting well with me. I can’t justify the cost, so we re not going. I’d rather not go than compromise on the resort category or staying onsite. . The days of 15-20 Disney nites a year are long gone for this family.

We did the South Dakota trip last year and it was one of our favorite vacations. There was so much to see and do and the scenery is breathtaking.

Yeah it is insane. It wasn't that long ago that you could get a value for $100/night with morning and evening extra magic hours and free parking. Now you pay to park and extra magic hours have been reduced to 30 minutes yet the price of the room has skyrocketed

It's just too much. We've got two reservations held for October right now. Coronado at $350/night and the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek for $180. Really leaning towards Bonnet Creek at this point
We are very similar we have POFQ reserved and Hilton bonnet creek 180 with tax over Xmas. I’m starting to think Hilton and deal with transportation delays….

And the prices are so high that even if a discount of some sort is offered, you’re still paying through the nose to stay onsite.

We have rented pts, and the issues we have is that you normally have to know 11 month's out when you want to do your trip. You have to pay 100% of it up front. No cancellations or a steep fee. Studios are really the only level that saves you money and then you only get 1 real bed (except OKW). It's great for some and not so great for others and unfortunately we are in the "others" category.

We rent points now - we were “others” for years. I am OK with paying up front and the no cancellation policy. I have never paid rack rates for Disney but it requires some work, following these forums, or a travel agent to find discounts. I like looking around but I’m sure it’s a hassle for families with little ones now and the diminished perks of staying OP are just sad. I wonder how guests who don’t follow these forums and other sites do it... navigating a Disney trip requires a certain set of skills now

With such low inventory and high prices (that people are willing to pay) a fall discount looks more unlikely every day.

The prices of resorts are just stupid crazy anymore. I will pay I it because I love staying onsite but just wow!
No, it's not just you. Your second sentence points out one reason they are $$$$$. Like all of us crazy Disney people, we are willing to pay because we enjoy it so much :thumbsup2

It’s not just you! We were looking at going the days leading up to Christmas as a backup if our youngest son can’t get vaccinated for our planned cruise. We just couldn’t swallow the cost for 3 nights in 2 Pop Century rooms and tickets was $1200 more than our 5 night cruise in 2 balcony rooms.

We were just in Orlando and didn’t go to any Disney park. We had a really nice day at Sea World for a lot less $$.

Almost threw up in my mouth reading this... Glad i booked our halloween trip with DVC points during pandemic times. I'm guessing I'll be disapointed by boo bash, but already book so what can I do?

4 days BLT + 3 days Kidani (DVC)$ 1,955.00
6 Days no Hop + Magic Maker$ 2,309.44
4 x halloween Boo Bash tix$ 847.74

They are and they're just going to stay that way and keep going higher because we keep paying it. Most of us basically beg Disney to take all the money we have...and unfortunately for less and less in return these days. They'd be beyond stupid to stop though...it's a consumer issue, not really there issue.

Nope, not just you! We are Canadian so those room rates are ridiculously expensive, especially for us because of the exchange rate. We were planning a trip in March but having trouble justifying the cost now that Magic Express will be gone and the fact that we will have to pay for parking if we rent a car. Not to mention that food prices have gone up. We wanted to travel with my sister and her kids (first timers) but even a value resort is too expensive for their budget so I am not sure if we should cancel or stay off property but the whole thing is discouraging to say the least.

Not just you OP.
I was not planning on going back to WDW for another year but our overseas trip this year was postponed and I wanted to do something to make up for it.
Normally we stay at BC but now that my kids are all adults we need 2 rooms and I just couldn't bring myself to pay those rates. We like to be on property- dh doesn't want to deal with driving when he's on vacation so I checked prices at Dolphin and found that their nightly rate was lower than a Disney mod for the same week. I booked 2 rooms, and I know I'll give up some things but for the price difference they are things I can deal with not having.

I will really have to think twice or three times before staying in a Disney resort next time. The only really valuable perk you get anymore is free transportation to the parks, and I could probably pay for transport every day out of the money I'd save on the room by going offsite.

I agree with everyone on here.
They have no incentive to lower rates because people will just pay whatever they charge, even with less and less offered (that's not a paid event!) I am included in this as we will probably book our favorite resort one more time next year. We are getting older and love a certain resort, so that is the draw at this time of life:)
The sad thing is, when one of us stops going to disney, there are many, many more people to take our place.

You're not wrong. So many people pushed back 2020 trips that you're basically looking at trying to fit 2 years of demand into one year of room availability.
