The prices of resorts are just stupid crazy anymore. I will pay I it because I love staying onsite but just wow!

It's Disney, not Discount. The hotel rates are overpriced in light of the room size, the quality of the grounds/rooms, and associated amenities.

Yup. I had a December 2020 reservation, at rack rate, for a 1-bedroom at RIV which I had to cancel. Rebooking for this year, exact same week and the same room is $500 more PER NIGHT. We will most likely do a suite at the Dolphin instead and save a couple thousand $$.

....aaand that's what WDW counts on....hence the continued skyrocketing increases. (No disrespect meant OP...I get the desire.)

But until people reach their limit and vote with their wallet to make other vacation choices, these rates will only continue to skyrocket.

I folded in 2018: I stay offsite when going to WDW these days - and the past 2 years, I've just skipped WDW altogether for UO/SW parks instead. (Actually was surprised at how little I missed WDW.)

I agree. Our last trip was Dec 2019 and I don't see us going back anytime soon, if ever. We were booked CR CL for the 50th anniversary weekend but I ended up cancelling that a couple of months ago as I just couldn't justify spending over $1,000/nt (especially without knowing what CL will entail once it starts back up). I find the rates outrageous even if things were back to normal (pre-covid), but now it's even harder for me to justify as Disney continues to take onsite perks away. I am one who has reached my limit and have started vacationing elsewhere. With that said, I am really enjoying other places and although it is a little sad to think we are done with Disney after 20 yrs, it has been nice visiting places outside of the Disney bubble for a lot less money.

We're a short 2-3 hour drive away, so will probably "pop" in every 1-2 years for a quick experience: maybe a single night Mickey's christmas party (which gives us the nighttime admission we value and a hit of Disney nostalgia).. maybe a short 2 night weekend to check out the other parks in 2022 or 2023, once EPCOT is in better shape and there's a bit less hoopla around the studio's star wars attractions. We still enjoy the parks.

But from now on, it's a "day trip" to us...a quick snack vs a vacation "meal". The bubble as an immersive destination no longer holds any appeal: we have no interest staying onsite, spending multiple days in the parks, doing water parks, Disney Springs dinners, etc. The value is no longer there.

Have you looked into DVC, either renting pointa or purchasing them? It might be perfect for you.

ITA! We always said we'd try something different like Universal for a day or two during one of our many Disney trips, but I could never pull myself out of the bubble. Disney, however, has made it somewhat easy to do so now. The current prices being charged, along with things like FP and EMH taken away (just to name a few), just decreases the value for us. Even if Disney offers big room discounts, the rates on some resorts are so inflated now that they'll still be ridiculously high with a discount :(.

We have rented pts, and the issues we have is that you normally have to know 11 month's out when you want to do your trip. You have to pay 100% of it up front. No cancellations or a steep fee. Studios are really the only level that saves you money and then you only get 1 real bed (except OKW). It's great for some and not so great for others and unfortunately we are in the "others" category.

We have never stayed in a value befor mostly dvc rentals and moderates but for next June I locked in AoA at 250$ a night.. things are getting insane..

Yeah it is insane. It wasn't that long ago that you could get a value for $100/night with morning and evening extra magic hours and free parking. Now you pay to park and extra magic hours have been reduced to 30 minutes yet the price of the room has skyrocketed

It's just too much. We've got two reservations held for October right now. Coronado at $350/night and the Wyndham Grand Bonnet Creek for $180. Really leaning towards Bonnet Creek at this point

We either rent points or stay at Pop. We have decided from now on that we will be cutting our 2-3 visits down to 1 every year. We can no longer justify spending more and getting less. Yes Disney is our spot, but we tried Universal and we are now passholders there instead of Disney. Universal seems to actually appreciate our business like Disney did years ago. So yes I will continue to give them 30%-40% of my money but they are losing 50%-60% of my annual vacation budget.

I agree, it's crazy! We have been renting points at DVC, until we bought. We are a family of 7, so the Villas were the only way to go, for us. We love Disney, but it is getting out of our budget.

I agree. We are going to FL mid Aug. for 6 days. Was only planning on staying 5 but the airline cancelled my flight and to get back non stop I needed to rebook for following day....so I added a Disney day :)

Two 1 bdrm suites at hotel on I-Dr for 4 nights = $850
3 Tix for 5 days to Discovery Cove/Seaworld/Aquatica = $680
Total for 5 day/ 4 night trip = $1530

Added on day/night at Disney
Two rooms for 1 night at Contemporary (garden view) = $1100
2 Tix to MK for 1 day = $240
3 Tix to Boo Bash = $445
Total for 1 day/1 night at Disney = $1785

In 2019, I paid $9000 for 3 people- 12 nights Lagoon View at Poly w/ 10 day tix w/park hopper and water parks plus DxDDP for 12 nights. Now nearly $2000 for 1 night! (Granted 2 rooms, but no dining)

Nope, it’s not just you. The prices are ridiculous! We are leaving for a two-week trip on August 1st, postponed from last year, but even before last year’s trip was supposed to happen, we knew it would be our last trip for awhile. We love Disney, but there is so much more out there beyond Disney and we have some great trips planned over the next three years, none of which are Disney. I will say, we are totally splurging this trip, so yes, we are part of the problem, but it’s been three years since our last trip and since we won’t be returning for some time, we are okay will paying what we are paying.

Next summer we have a two-week trip to South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore, Custer, Badlands NP), Yellowstone NP, Grand Tetons NP, Rocky Mountain NP, staying in lodges in the parks (Old Faithful Inn, yay!), lots of fun things planned, and this summer’s trip is more than double the price I’ll be paying for next summer’s trip. I know the trips are totally different, but we just can’t justify the cost for Disney anymore, and I know we will love our out west trip just as much!

Made reservations at POP for 9/29-10/3 and am paying $300+ rack, then \
11/6/202 11/8/2021 POP $195+ Rack.
It is what it is if you want to stay onsite for a short trip in a very popular time.
