or did anyone else find the new planning dvd to be a bit of a let down? I was soooo excited to get it and dd5, dh and I sat down to watch it as soon as it arrived. A few minutes into it dd announced that she was bored and dh and I were checking the special features to see if it got any more interesting (unfortunately not). It seemed too mellow and didn't have the same peppy, happy vibe that I'd expect from Disney. I'll have to admit I was bumming, b/c the planning dvd is like a movie at our house (dd would rather watch the disney video than real movies- she pretends like she's riding the rides while she watches). Well, at least the Travel channel updated their WDW special to include some of the new attractions...guess I'll watch that instead.

IT'S NOT JUST YOU!

After I watched it (in pieces, b/c I was trying to find something good on it.... anything!) I took it out and said, "Well that was pretty useless".

The only part slightly worth watching was the cool stuff for the pre-teens. Slightly.

I was expecting seeing some Epcot footage, more resort info, more.....just more! The adult stuff looked like it was footage from 1980's and slapped onto a new DVD.

I hope somebody didn't get their Disney bonus that year.

Oh well, back to the web sites!

I was excited to get mine in the mail too. And I really wanted to show my boyfriend who hasn't been before but there really wasn't anything that great on there to show him.

I agree too, we liked using it to get in the trip mood, but this year was a big downer.

I completely agree. Although it was the first and only Planning DVD I have watched, I expected more.

I didn't think it was good at all. We order the dvd every year (years ago we got the VHS tapes). We save them all for our collection. But anyway, I didn't think this year was that good and certainly not very helpful if you were a first time visitor that may be trying to decide which resort to stay at or what activities other than the parks themselves there was. Hopefully next years video will be better.

I didn't enjoy it either. It was the first one I've ever seen and the kids got bored with it quickly. I've asked them to watch it with me again and they refused. I definetely wouldn't call it a "planning" dvd.

Gosh, I thought I was the only one that perceived the dvd as slow. Glad to know I'm not alone. On the other hand, the last Disneyland DVD I got was so fast paced I thought I was going to have a seizure. However, the current one is too slow and not very exciting. The only good thing was the fact that Disneyland and WDW were both included on the disk. I also find the introductions to each section is a bit odd. A little too cheesy for my taste. I really like the previous WDW DVD with Erin, Dave, etc...

Same here! I have all the VHS planning videos dating back to about 1992. I'm slowly transfering them all to DVD before they wear out.

I watched mine last night & was really bummed. Oh well, I guess I'll just continue looking at my own pictures & reading books (& Dis) to find out more info for our upcoming trip.

Now I hope this doesn't sound harsh but if the people watching the free video get it every year, then Disney might have realized it is not worth spending the extra money to send the same people a free DVD every year? Since they already have the others? Just a thought...

I am taking my Nephew, my DD and her best friend to WDW in just a few weeks now. My DD and I always get a new one to watch before our trips, so I was so excited to show them the new DVD. What a let down. However they all loved the Cool Stuff for Kids, the only redeeming part of the DVD.

I am way late on this but good lord we were bored to death with this video..lol

We LOVE the one from last year with Erin and Dave. It is so upbeat and makes you so excited to go. We still turn it on at night before bed 3-4 nights a week to tide us over til we go again..hehe

We do not even both trying to put the new one in to watch since we have tried 3 times and just keep loosing inteterest almost right away. I wonder who had the smart idea to make the video this way?

Maybe they can put some of us Dis'ers in charge of making one for next year.
