Is it hard to get a table for 2 on the Wonder (late seating)?

Hi. My husbad and I strongly prefer to sit by ourselves in the dining room. On our Carnival & Celebrity cruise, this was not a problem. (On Carnival, even if they had no table or 2, they would seat you at a table for 4 by yourselves.)

We will be in the late seating on the Wonder.

Any advice would be appreciated.

::yes::

Unfortunately they do not have tables for 2. You can request to have your own table, but chances are you wont get it, although it has been known to happen a few times.
I also felt very strongly about sitting alone, and yet we had another couple with us. Thank God for Palo! ;) While having tablemates didnt ruin our cruise, it did make the 2 dinners we had in the dining rooms a lot less enjoyable than they would have been had we been alone.
This is probably my only complaint about DCL. If we were able to get a table for 2 on The Big Red Boat, I dont see why Disney cant have even a few in their dining rooms. :(
Good luck!

We had requested a table for 4 & to set by ourselves for 3 people, DH, myself, and GS on the wonder last july.
On the first night when we entered the dining room they were leading us to a table for about 8 or 10 people. We went and very nicely explained to the matrade what our request had been and asked did he possibly have such a table? Within 10 minutes our request was met and we had a private table for the rest of the cruise. We also had 2nd seating.

We have almost always had a table for 4 with just 2 of us seated at it. Tell them you want to be by yourselves when you make your reservations (or call them now if reservations are already made). We usually travel "off season," which might be part of why we normally have this request met....but late seating off season is generally not full. Families with little kids want early seating.....

We tried for a table to ourselves, ended up at a table for 8 with people we had nothing in common with. We were at Palos the 2nd night and chose room service over going back to the dining room the third night. The dinner options were the only part of the cruise I did not like (other then Palos).

oceanmarina,

Part of the answer lies in knowing when you are going on the cruise.

But first let me say that if you want a table by your self, I think you do have a better chance at second seating than first seating as first seating seems to be the more popular (at least I've never heard of someone being wait-listed for second seating). After all, this is the Disney boat, so there will be lots of families with children, and the general rule seems to be that parents don't want to be feeding their kids dinner at 8:00 at night.

The reason I say the answer depends upon when you cruise because on our recent cruise in late October, I heard it said that the boat was only at about 80% occupacy. Our family of three got a table to our selves, and all we asked for once we boarded was to be changed to 1st seating. And at that first seating, there were several empty tables and therefore someone such as your self would not have had a problem getting a table alone.

Regardless of what you might request or get before hand, all you have to do once on board is follow the directions in your navigator for requesting dinning changes. That's when they (DCL) really have all the information about how many are dining when and you very well might be able to get your request fulfulled once on board. As an example, we had asked for and got wait-listed for first seating for this recent cruise. Despite the fact that the ship was only 80% full, our request was not honored before we boarded (I assume it has something to do with keeping early and late seating balanced regardless of how full the ship is). But like I already said, once on board, it was a non-issue getting it changed to what we wanted.

BTW, I know that fall season (after the kids are in school and before the holidays) is at least one of the slower seasons for DCL. I'm sure your request is more likely to be filled if you go during an off season. Not sure what else are the off-season times to go.
