I think anytime I say Shannon, I say it weird. It's not like I don't know how to pronounce it, or that I don't know how I like it to be pronounced (yes, people pronounce Shannon differently:teeth: ). But it sounds weird when I say my own name-even if I'm referring to another Shannon.

No, no problem at all. Although I really don't say my name much.

Only one as far as I'm concerned but not everyone says it the way I think it should be. I get MEchelle, MAchelle, MUSHelle. My name is pronounced MISHelle. Not everyone pronounces their name that way so it's understandable sometimes but it gets annoying at times too.

Yeah Shannon I know what you're saying. My name is an unusual one & lots of people mispronounce it & when I say it, it never comes out clear enough for some reason. I think I'm just sick of people saying "HUH" what was that again & then having to spell it out for them.

I don't know how some people get AL out of EL........it's beyond me.

See my name is Auriel pronounced

OAR-E-L...........how hard can that be?? It can also be spelt Oriel & that is usually pronounced O-RE-L.

Go figure:(

That's why I always call you Nutsy.:o I know my southern twang would mutilate your name and it's such a pretty name.:) I'd say it as Ah ray el.

My last name, Cavness, is very hard for me to pronounce and impossible for people to hear over the phone. The v and n do not go together naturally. Sometimes I wish I had a name like Smith.

LOL, I bet you hate that Beatles song, eh? ;)

I feel sorry for guys in Chicago that are named Bob ("Bab") or John ("Jan").

I think anyone that lives in the Boston area that gives their kid a name with "R's" in it are just plain mean. :(
;)

Yes, that song got old a long, long time ago...

;)

Even though you don't have a problem saying your own name I'm sure there are plenty of people who butcher it for you.

Yeah, but my name is a normal sounding name that's just spelled differently. I had a few teachers that never said my name right, so I intentially mispronounced their names as well, either by calling them by a similar sounding name or putting the wrong emphasis on the wrong syllable. They usually got the point & made an effort to learn my name.

Hey no worries Shannon............I like Nutsy better anyway:) :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Nope! but I hate it when people take the e off of the end and add an a. I HATE that name!!!!

I was just reading these posts and laughing, I just told my friend the other day that I hate the way most people say my name. I live in the south, so everything sounds longer than it is, NO OFFENSE, I do it as well, southern to the core, but my name is Julie, believe me you hear the U in my name when it's said. I always hated my name, wanted to change it during my whole childhood, now I think it's not so bad. I like a name that is not used very often, a unique name, my daughter is Logan, just love her name. Enough said, don't think I'm nuts, just a rambler.

It is weird for me to say my name is Margaret instead of Maggie, because i go by Maggie. Sometimes when i am at school and a sub teacher is calling role and says Margaret, i dont respond. And when i say Maggie.. i feel like i draw out the A too much. Others dont have a problem in pernouncing it though.

no, but others often have trouble pronouncing it. They say 'Mary' instead of 'Mary Jo'.:o :)
