Is it common to be bumped from Deluxe Queen (500 sf) to Club Queen (375 sf) at HRH?

I read a post about that somewhere when doing a search. It's a generous bump looking at the cost of room with club benefits but I'd think they'd have a hard time with an occupancy of 5 taking away 125 sq ft and a pullout, even with the free food at club level.

Has it happenned to anyone with occupancy of 5? We are going in offseason so don't expect it to be a problem with overbooking or anything and I'd guess they'd bump up someone with occupancy of 3 or 4 before the guest in deluxe queen with 5. If you were bumped from deluxe queen to club queen do they at least give you a rollaway to make the bedding situation more similar?

Thanks.

It is very unlikely that you would be upgraded like this. You may be upgraded from garden view deluxe to pool view deluxe but that would be about it. You can ask what the extra charge would be for the upgrade but it is very unlikely that you would just be upgraded. I'm not sure if you want to be upgraded or are worried about being moved to a smaller room. If you are worried, don't. If you have paid for a deluxe room, you will get your deluxe room. There are 4 deluxe queen rooms that are on club level also.

I think MrsMudd's experience was pretty rare. It is the only time I've heard of it. Just stick to your guns if they try to give you anything other than a deluxe room. Some of the reservationists aren't as experienced as others in manipulating rooms around. Checking in early will help with getting what you asked for. Have fun and don't worry!!!

Just to make sure, call the hotel the day before and speak with the room controller to make sure you are in the type of room you booked.

Our experience at the HRH: Even though we had talked with the HRH and told them that we would be arriving late, they did not have the type of room we had reserved available when we arrived (around 10:30 PM). There were four of us (2 adults and 2 young teens) and we had reserved a standard room. They only had king beds available when we arrived. They offered us a king room in the club level with no extra charge over standard. We thought it was a great deal even though it meant using a pullout and having a cot brought in. The room was crowded but we thought it was a fair trade off with the use of the lounge. They even sent us a gift basket of fruit, cookies and chocolate as an apology for messing up the reservation. We love this hotel and I guess this is proof that a little good will goes a long way.
