Is it cheaper to rent a car on property, SOG, DTD, Swan/Dolphin area, than MCO??

Has anyone rented from on property?? Will they pick up the car from the resort you are staying on if you use ME to get back to the airport?? I don't know all the ins and outs on renting other than the airport. THANKS for any advice/tips. :)

Generally, I find prices cheaper at MCO than at the various satellite locations if you are planning to rent for your entire stay.

I saved $230 by using National at the Dolphin last week. However, I have seen the airport be cheaper before. I always check all locations for my dates & the prices do vary. I was not charged a drop fee to return to the airport, either. I took the bus to Hollywood Studios and then you can walk or boat to Dolphin. I saw a shuttle picking up people in the Lost & Found lot also. Last year, we had friends find a car at Shades of Green 1 week prior to their trip for over 50% less than their Dolphin reservation. They went to Downtown Disney & grabbed bus for SOG, but you could go to any park to change buses, they just happened to be at Saratoga Springs that trip. I would definitely look around. The prices seem to have less fees & surcharges off airport property.

The answer is yes and no. It really all depends on when you are renting and for how long. Rental agencies seem to have adopted the airline pricing model and there can be some significant differences.

You'll have to check all the options to find out which is best for your particular rental. And even then, keep checking because its likely that they will change again.

You may want to check the price for picking up the car at MCO and returning it at the Disney Car Care Center by the MK or doing the reverse. I considered doing so for my trip last week. It would have saved me $120 but in the end I decided it was worth the extra money to return the car at MCO and not have to take the extra time returning the car. At the Car Care Center, Alamo will shuttle you back to your resort when you drop off the vehicle.

Alamo will shuttle you to and from the rental counter at either the Car Care Center or the Dolphin. You need to call and make an appt to be picked up.

This is a good point. For me, the price has to be *significantly* better to make up for the convenience of not picking up and/or dropping off at MCO. Usually when I check, the prices are very comparable, but I also am using a contracted rate, so my experience might not be general.

I used the Costco rate for our August trip and saved $200 by picking the car up at the Car Care Center instead of MCO. Totally worth it for me.

Thanks so much for the replies. I will check out the rates at MCO vs on property. :)
