Is it a chaotic free for all for the wet suits and swim time?

Hi,

Can somebody talk me through how we should approach the day.

Firstly we are going december (late).

So we turn up at DC, then what? Guessin g that everbody else turns up at the same time, is it like the shopping sales , everybody rushes in and gets the best kit?

I have been told you don't have times for the swim, its allocated when you get in! Again ..how! is it he who shouts loudest...?

First off remember only a 1000 people are allowed in the park per day.. and not all of them do the dolphin swim. Not all 1000 people are there when you check in.

Two weeks ago, when we were at DC, maybe about 40 people were there at 845.

You cant schedule your dolphin swims until you get there, you told the reservationist at checkin your preference, and they will accommodate you. We asked for first available, and got a swim at 1005.

First you check in, do the quick tour, get your free picture (takes about 10-15 minutes). Then off to get your snorkle pack, ours was enough for two adults, and first we asked for wetsuits, but then changed our mind, and got the vests. The vests were plentiful in our sizes, ladies medium and mens L/XL. It was not frenzied at all. Obviously more obscure sizes are harder to find, ie.. there was only one XXXL vest for a larger person.

There is a bit to do with changing, getting your stuff, getting your locker, (again, many lockers!), claiming a chair, etc... but all in all about 30 minutes to do that... (This was two adults)

It has a very relaxed feel to it compared the craziness of the opening minutes lof say Magic Kingdom.. check on the Universal Trip Reports board, I have two reports on Discovery Cove, and how the day went....
