Does the 7/5 deal not sound that great? I've been trying to crunch some numbers and it appears that if I purchased a room with an AP rate (if available) and tickets separately, it would cost less. Am I right thinking this?

Great Minds Think Alike......I didn't think it was that great either.....I priced it out for several resorts and it's about the same as AP....give or take a few bucks.....

And even for those of us that don't have AP, it means having to get more vacation. My wife can't take off for a whole week. So I guess we just stay with our 4 nights for the price of 4 nights plan.

I thought they'd be offering some good room rates or something like that. Oh, well.

Last year they did a 7 for 4, and it looked like a much better deal to me........

Add me to the "I don't think it is a good deal"! You get a much better deal on room only codes and UPH, IMHO.

I agree.

We are doing the 7 for 4 Visa deal in a couple days and I had a hard time agreeing that THAT deal was a good one compared to the AP discounts.

Last year, when they did the Fairytale package, expedia booked it as well as Disney and AAA. I checked the prices with all three, expedia was several hundred dollars cheaper for the same exact package! With expedia, the 7 for 4 was a great deal. I stayed at the Poly for almost the same price that I was being quoted for CSR through Disney and AAA. I don't think the 7 for 4 is a great deal through Disney themsleves, but if the FTP comes out again, I suggest people try expedia.

I crunched some numbers last night and if I do a 7 night trip to the Poly LV concierge this deal would be the cheapest assuming an AP discount is 35% (I think its sometimes around 40%-then that would best). BUT I also want to go next year and use the same AP's. In that case AAA is cheaper by a few hundred dollars but AP is cheaper by $1,300! I don't know what I'll do-I'm sure AP's won't come out now through November and I couldn't get AAA-I guess I'll just have to keep calling looking for AAA and watch these boards to get a jump on AP discounts when they do come out. I think the 7 for 4 would only be about $100 more than 2 trips on an AP with 35% discount. I'd probably go for that because there is no guarantee of AP discounts and of course no guarantee that we'd actually be able to go next year. But it doesn't look they going to do a 7 for 4 deal.

Aren't these boards great. Imagine trying to figure out what to do if we didnt have all this information!

I was thinking the same thing. :scratchin

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I didn't want to say anything!

I've got 10 nights planned, and figured it out paying for 5 nights at one hotel (and then getting 2 nights free), and then another 3 nights at another hotel, all with passes. I currently have a AAA rate booked and have annual pass vouchers.

It was only $25 cheaper to do this new package, and I would have to change my plans, since I'm doing a 5/5 split. Not worth it.

Edited to add: I did it wrong. I'm SAVING $125 by not booking the package. It was too late to be doing ANY kind of math last night!!!! :)

I agree I don't think it sounds that great. Since we have a young child going to a park everyday is just not the best thing for us. I hope they come out with room only codes or S/D drop their rates. The airlines out of Philly are giving Southwest a run for its money so a trip this fall might be a possibility and we already have days left on PHPs.

It might depend on if you're staying and a value or deluxe. We're doing the 7/4 deal at Poly LVC. Were saving over $2,000 off rack and $700 over what I anticipated the AP rate to be.

If your staying at AS's...you're not going to save as much. Just do the simple math for where you want to stay.

We would never have stayed LVC without this offer. We made it work for us!

Agree with previous poster. I just ran the numbers for my ASPO stay with my two brothers. We were going with three 5-day park hoppers, and a AAA rate for the resort, and the price was $1,308 for seven days. I'm waiting for the AP rates to come out, and if they're good enough, I'll buy that.

However this 7 for 5 deal equals out to $1,481. Of course it's with the UPH. But we're getting there late on the first day, so is it worth $172 more for one extra day in the parks? Well, the numbers actually say it's pretty much a wash.

All well, I was getting excited about until the math sunk in.

It is not at all good for me.

We are going for our honeymoon, and the plan was 5 nights at GF and 5 nights at YC. We wanted to experience both hotels and make it like 2 vacations in one. AP's would have been ideal.

Now we are stuck with potentially 2 free nights at GF, which is nice - but then a very expensive 3 nights at the YC without passes.

Arggggg!

Your plans sound almost exactly like mine. We're doing 5 nights at the BC, then 5 nights at the Polynesian.

You don't mention when your honeymoon is. If it's in September, although I'm doubtful for any AP rates, you might want to wait it out. You might very well get them, and save some money. In general though, I think that Annual Passes are going to be your cheapest admission option.

If not, it might be worth it for you to get a AAA membership. I saved over $500 with AAA discounts. If no other discounts come out, it's at least SOME savings.

Good luck, congratulations, and have a great honeymoon! :)

Snacky -

9/27-10/2 at GF (RPC)
10/2-10/7 at YC (Conc. WV)

I knew from last year that a Sept. AP was a risk, but we weren't going to plan a wedding around the honeymoon.

I have applied AAA rates and saved 12% off the rooms (almost $800), which is great. But without the AP rates it might be a little pricey.

Here are the #'s I ran:

Currently (AAA rate on above dates, 2 PAP's) - $6331
AP rates (assuming 30% discount) and 2 PAP's - $5251

7for5 - 9/27-10/4 at GF w/ UPH's - $3883
10/4-10/7 at YC w/AAA - $1595

That totals $5478 without tickets for 10/5-10/7. Sure, it is better that AAA rates, but it is at least $500 more than AP rates and it moves from our plan of 5 and 5 nights.

We will see i guess!

I'm not happy either. We want to spilt our 10 night stay between the GF, PR, and the AKL. This trip was for our 10 yr anniversary. I know a lot of people don't like to change resorts, we enjoy the different themes at these resorts. I have an AP and the rest of my family was planning on getting theirs. My husband has 3 conferences in Orlando in the next yr so we could get good use out of our passes.
I'm not sure what we will do if they don't have AP discounts. I know I'm not doing the 7 for 5:(

meuseman...

I think you'll be able to book a room only ressie using AP or DV discount code for that time frame.
