Is Hollywood & Vine as bad as they say?

Luis,
I don't know if you are on the dining plan, but The Brown Derby is a two credit restaurant.

anabelle,

Thanks for your post. We already had one TS left unfilled and decided to apply it for the Brown Derby.

Regards,

Luis

Is tip included when you get the Fantasmic Dinner Package on the DDP?

Thanks

H & V is the only WDW restaurant we won't return to. And I don't have "'tude". My expectations were in line for a lower level buffet regardless of the cost.
The food was bad, cool to cold, we were surrounded by unbussed tables full of dirty dishes, our waitress was rude at best, and the Ladies Room was FILFTHY!!!! The only good thing about the entire evening was dessert.
I would change your reservation. We like 50's Prime Time Cafe. I have not eaten in Mama Melrose or Sci Fi
Have a great trip.

Just wanted to point out that Hollywood and Vine and Prime Time share a restroom. So that particular problem would be at both.

We were just there last week for the Fantasmic dinner package (Mama Melrose was booked) and it was totally fine. Exactly the same in terms of quality and service as Crystal Palace. The chef brought my son a bowl of penne with a small amount of margarine since he is allergic to milk. The bathrooms were fine, too.

Hopefully :and the Ladies Room was FILFTHY!!!!

grandall : The bathrooms were fine, too.
Yes.....H&V's bathroom shares/connects with the Prime Time Cafe as Hook's Girl mentioned. This is starting to make me remember a thread from long ago about the best bathrooms in WDW ;)

I didn't have a bad attitude but I thought that H&V was probably the worst buffet I have experienced at WDW. The food was mediocre, they didn't refresh the food IMHO, pans were almost empty. The service was fine but overall I would spend my Disney meals somewhere else. There are so many reanny good restaurants at WDW that I wouldn't go back.

we ate there recently for dinner, 2 adults, 2 children. I thought it was ok but DH, DD & DS did not like it at all and barely ate anything. I will say though that service for us was good and it was very busy but we won't be eating there again.

we LOVE the playhouse disney breakfast & lunch, it's a total must do for us and we actually booked it twice for our December trip this year....but we will NEVER return to dinner there. It is honestly the worst food I've ever eaten at Disney and I am not a picky eater at all. We only did it for the dinner package and it was totally not worth it at all. Never again......

Here is my review I posted on TGM after I returned from my last trip:

My sister and I call this place, "The Stinky Rag"

Pros:
Decent Service
Quick Seating

Cons:
Smelly Restaurant
Limited Food Choices
Buffet food is taken up 30 minutes before restaurant closes

This was my second visit to Hollywood and Vine and honestly, it will probably be my last.

We were seated very quickly, immediately as a matter of fact.

Each time I visit H&V, I notice that the entire place smells like an old mop or mildewed rag. I am not sure if that is how diners smelled in the 50s, and this is a "piped in scent" but if they did, I feel sorry for the people that ate at them.

For the length of the buffet, there are not really a lot of choices. All of the cold salads are made with the same flavors. Everything is oil, vinegar and a blend of garlic, onions and oregano. All of the meats are either very bland or have such a strong foreign flavor that you are unable to determine what you are eating.

I did enjoy the mashed potatoes, prime rib and the tomatoe & mozzarella. The rolls were so hard I could have knocked my waitress out with one. The dessert buffet is okay, but I am scared to eat anything off of it because it is so open. I see kids helping themselves to the desserts with their hands instead of using tongs.

Our waitress was good. She has been working there since it opened and was very sweet. She had our drinks out very quickly and refilled our tea each time before we were even down to 1/4 of a glass.

About 30 minutes before closing, they started picking up all the food. They closed half of the buffet and the other half was out of most of the foods. I guess in the future when I go to a buffet I will not go any less than 2 hours before closing. Though our waitress was nice, I felt like they were pushing us out the door.

Overall I give Hollywood & Vine a C.

This is my sister's review:
Short and to the point.

Pros: NONE

Cons: The smell!!!!
Choice of food
Atmosphere

First off, The whole place smelled like a dirty mop. In fact, my first thought was that maybe they cleaned the tables with the same mop they use on the floors...

Then when we were seated, we again took turns waiting at the table while the others got their food. When I got up to the buffet line I noticed that there wasn't much of a choice. There was a couple of meats and a few sides but that's about it.

I think the atmosphere would have been better if the place was a lot cleaner!!!!!
