Im not a fan of big roller coasters, but i love harry potter and am wondering iif the forbidden journey is too intense?

I loved bthe ack to the future ride
Soarin
Thunder mountain
Simpsons
Transformers
Star tours

Wont do:
Hulk
Tower of terror
Mission space extreme side

It is intense, but not in a coaster kind of way.

As far as the motion of the ride, I think it's less intense than Transformers (I didn't like) or ToT (the drops!), but it's very different... from anything really. It moves you around a lot, even nearly upside down, but it's smooth so none of the dropping feeling like on a coaster or ToT or vomit-inducing spinning like on Mission Space!

If you're a HP fan, I'd say you definitely have to try it! It's pretty amazing!

Don't ride if you don't like being upside down... It's a fast moving not a roller coaster BUT it will tilt you all different ways as well as yes just about upside down. Don't ride if you can get motion sickness..

Don't ride if you don't like being upside dumb p

if you mean "upside down" it doesn't go upside down. It does kinda put you flat on your back once or twice though...which can be uncomfortable.

I'd say it usually leaves me dizzy, though I haven't ridden it for a while, I've heard they made it less intense, with some upgrades to the scenes, etc.

Been on it like 10x last time in march and they haven't changed a thing.. And to me your just about if not upside down.. just make sure you don't go after having just eaten.. And I have gotten off a times just a little wobble..

The actual movements of the ride are not intense at all. It will give you problems with motion sickness. I would say don't ride first thing in the morning if you haven't eaten yet and don't ride within a half hour of eating a big meal. You should have something in your stomach, but not too much.

It's not nearly as dangerous from a motion sickness perspective as Mission Space though. There's no spinning at all, it's not fast at all. It's just kinda moves you at a moderate pace in a bunch of different directions. It's clunky.

Forgive me, but I know the changes they've been making as I have contacts in that area...and again, you do NOT go upside down or nearly upside down, and never have.

LOL ok whatever you say so it doesn't tip you nearly that way??? So when was the big change and exactly what was it. Can you say you can't get motion sickness on it. I'm going back in September and I will see what changes were made..

The ride profiles have been adjusted to make more subtle movements, the projection cameras have been upgraded, as well as the actual images.

Some of this was also being tested for the new version that just opened in Osaka. They wanted a gentler ride profile for Japan.

I don't make any guarantees about motion sickness...some people get motion sick looking at movies sitting still!

Yes true on the MS but been on DD RRR and for some reason FD has gotten to me.. Hope they have the changes in when I visit in Sept.. Can't wait

The two different times I have ridden it, I went upside down at least twice. When did they slow it down? I last rode it in march and thought it was the same speed as the year prior

I am prone to motion sickness when screens are involved. Heck I get too queasy to play video games. However I can ride forbidden journey. It is real smooth however there are movie screens, I don't even have to close my eyes, I just focus off to the side on a real prop. Then it tilts you away to something else, it does not go upside down, but sorta feels like you are about to.

I can ride Spider-Man and transformers, but keep me really really far away from Simpsons. I sat out (by choice) in the pouring rain without a poncho or umbrella to stay away from Simpsons while my group rode.

Harry Potter does NOT go upside down. Theres 2 or 3 times where the vehicle tilts far backwards and you are basically on your back quickly, but that's it.

OP, just going by what rides you are fine with doing, you should be fine with Forbidden Journey. At first it's more intense because you're strapped in like it's a floor-less roller coaster, but it's essentially like all the other simulator rides you wrote that you're okay with.

You will LOVE it.

I'm curious, have you ever tried Simpsons (or Back to the Future) at all?

I'd think Transformers/Spiderman is more intense than a single, huge screen and a ride vehicle that isn't moving between scenes.

I think its just feeling like you're going upside down...like in Spiderman where it feels like you're falling 400 ft, when actually you're not moving more than a few inches.

You do NOT go upside down.It only feels like it .You tilt way on your back, but it never goes upside down. The changes I saw between our visits were mainly the beginning.*******SPOILER*********It used to be that when Hermione used the floo powder to enchant your bench you went up the chimney and there was brick work .The brickwork and the motions made many people motion sick...Now it is simply that Hermione uses floo powder and there is green smoke as you take flight .ALOT less nausea inducing

Oh yes, Simpsons on three different trips. Within 5 seconds I am looking at my feet and concentrating on my breathing. For me it's the screens I can't handle. I can do transformers and Spider-Man cause I can look away. Dispicable Me is a No Go also for me. But was a cute preshow.

Have you ever tried Bonine? I had the same problem, could not make it half way through the Simpsons without closing my eyes. Then I took a half - just a half - pill of Bonine (the less drowsy version) about an hour before hitting the parks - huge difference. Did Simpson's all the way, Despicable Me, Spiderman, no problem, and I was not very woozy from the pill (well, maybe a little). You may need a different dosage than me, but it was well worth it - finally saw what I was missing!

Out of all the simulator rides at OU, Simpsons is the one that does me in also. Not sure why since the car does not move out on a track or anything like Spiderman, but Simpsons just ends my day. FJ is pretty nausea inducing for me also but not like Simpsons. And totally worth it.

BTW- FJ has never gone upside down when we have been on it- just leaned back (like RRR on the way up).
