What do you all think? We unfortunately have to sell a portion of our DVC. Is eBay a good place to do this? I know this board is sponsored by TTS, and we do have them listed there, but we have had no takers, even though our listed price is quite attractive.

So, any opinions on other places to list that may get exposure to more people than just us DVC geeks? Advice welcomed!

TIA!

It can be...TTS lists some of their contracts over there. You can also list on redweek and tug.

This is a good time of the year to sell...resales "pick up" in the spring when people start planning their summer vacations.

Sorry you have to sell!!

Does it cost anything to try? Good luck with your sale and hopefully TSS will make it happen for you soon!

By listing on ebay you will certainly get exposure to a larger audience, but you will also need to make sure you fully list details of DVC in your listing. You will also need to line up a closing agent to handle the official papers, unless you know how to do it yourself. I would suggest Timeshare Transfer .

I did once list a contract on ebay. I got a fair price that was a bit above the average listing price on the listing firms, plus I got a quick sale.

I would start with a low list price and watch the auction closely. As long as you are not listing a large contract, I would expect a expect a positive outcome.

Is your listing with the TSS non exclusive or has it expired. If not, you might sell it yourself and still owe them the commission.

It is not an exclusive listing.
If we sell it ourselves and provide notice, they are due nothing. If they provide a buyer they are due their commission.

Thanks!

Edited to add: I will be THRILLED if TTS sells it. We are repeat customers of theirs and think they do a great job. We just need it sold ASAP so I was looking for other avenues to increase exposure.

The Timeshare Store, Inc. does NOT and never has taken exclusive listings. We want our sellers to have every opportunity to sell their property, whether through our efforts or their own. If they sell their listing before we do, the seller does NOT owe us a commission.

Thanks Tom, I didn't know. I knew some resale were one companies way and some the other. Good info to know.

If you own SSR, I wouldn't be too optomistic about TSS selling it for you. I had been planning on buying a resale there but was talked into purchasing VWL instead; their reasons made sense to me. However, I made a mental note that if I were a seller of SSR, especially if I was selling at a low price, I probably wouldn't have much luck at a sale.

For the month of February, as of today, 2/19/06, The Timeshare Store, Inc. has had a total of 75 sales. 14 of those have been for Saratoga Springs.

I'll let the facts speak for themselves.

I certainly didn't mean to start a fight, just looking for advice!
Tom, there is no need to get defensive. Our listing is not at SSR, don't worry!

Just wanted to pop in to say that we've got a pending contract on our SSR points with The Times Share Store right now. If the price makes sense and financing isn't a huge concern, folks stand to save money purchasing SSR resale.

That is true, and when I first called TSS, it was with the intention to buy SSR resale since the prices were great, and with a contract over 100 points, Disney was highly unlikely to exercise ROFR. However, I was pursuaded by the broker that with the glut of SSR hitting the market, combined w/Disney's active selling of it, the older WDW resorts would have more value, and it would be extremely difficult to stay at an older resort for those same reasons. She also suggested that the large number of SSR listings were due to buyers being unpleased with that particular resort, which did scare me a bit. Now if I went in already sold on buying SSR, it wouldn't have made a difference, but I was open to the possibility of purchasing an older resort and did so. I think it is an inherent flaw in a system where the broker works for both the seller and buyer (since the other resorts cost more and result in higher commissions), but as a buyer, I can't complain yet (unless I am disappointed in VWL and end up spending all future vacations at SSR!).

I have a question, we have an add on that I'm thinking of selling... Once you find a buyer (through Ebay or wherever), do you then contact someone like the link listed above? Would they fill out the paperwork to go through ROFR? Or do that yourself through Disney?
