Is DVC site updated in real time or just certain times of day?

Going for a quick weekend (we live 1 hr from WDW) and have one night but looking for other. Have our 2 waitlists for other night but amenable to any location. I got the one night when I checked late one evening. I checked earlier in the day and nothing was available so was surprised to see that later. I was always under the impression the system did not update in real time but appears this is wrong? Question is it worth checking every few hours?Any insight appreciated!

I wait list and check regularly. The rentals update near real time. Had a reservation for last week of August booked in May, but kept checking. Then Saturday morning (7-6-19) I check and the concierge club is open @ AK. Whoop - good luck.

Rooms that are released will either go right to availability or will be held by the waitlist system. Yes, it's pretty real time.

Yes, it's pretty much real time. I've done some tests with cancellations and rebooking. If there is a waitlist, then it does not show up in the inventory. If no waitlist, it pretty much shows up right away.
