Is Disney Visa card worth it?

IM thinking if getting the card to use for groceries, gas, ect...for points, but hate the thought of a
Credit card. Do you really get useful advantages? We go to WDW or cruise about every 2 years. Thank you!!

We just got the Premier card. We use it like a debit card...I keep a ledger of the money in our account and as I swipe the CC I deduct the amount in the ledger, then pay it off weekly. Since we don't intend to ever carry a balance on the card it is really all benefits. Free Disney vacation money so to speak :)

If you do decide to get the card, you may want to wait until you get a good promotional offer. We got our card in March of 2013, when there was a "charge $500 in three months, and get a $200 Disney Card" offer. We used the card exclusively for groceries, reached $500 in 1 1/2 months, paid it off, and got essentially $200 free for use during our trip in October (we used it to save on our food budget). As an added bonus, we used our Disney Visa at Downtown Disney to save on our planned for T-Shirt souveniers...10% off purchases over $50.

If you use the Disney visa to purchase a Disney vacation you have the option of paying for the vacation interest free for 6 months.

Today they released a vacation offer that if you use your Disney visa to book a trip and stay anytime from June till I think Sept you get 40% off of room rates.

The downside is all the rewards that you earn have to be used at Disney.

Where as if you got a different card be it a Southwest airline card your rewards can be used for airline tickets anywhere. SWA often times runs a special that if you spend $2000 in 3 months they give you 50,000 points. That offer just ended but it comes around pretty often. I took advantage of this offer and I was able to get 3 roundtrip tickets to Disney for $30 (I still had to pay the taxes on the tickets). and I still have 23,000 miles left over.
If you do a lot of online shopping you can score big. SWA Rapid Rewards online shopping offers double some times triple and I even saw 6X the reward point per dollar spent. I bought a snowblower from Home Depot thru the RR shopping and got 4X the reward points per dollar. So on my $600 blower I earned 2400 points. Plus I paid with my SWA card and got and extra 600 points for a total of 3000 points just for one purchase. Right there it gave me enough points to pay for a one way ticket to Nashville. I was able to go to the store to pick up the blower or I had the option to have it delivered. The Rapid Reward shopping is available to anyone not just SWA credit card holders.

The 6 months no interest in a trip perk already got mentioned. That is the primary reason we got the Disney visa a while ago. We use it for all our Disney trips. I also use it to pay my cellphone and other utility bills so that I am adding up points month upon month. You'd be surprised how quickly those points add up. PLUS, if you charge your vacation, you get points there too.

When you redeem your points, you'll be given a rewards card that acts like a debit/gift card. It can be used in the parks, any disney store or the online disney store.

We don't consider it to be worth it for the points, but we're very careful with our credit cards. I use it for charges $10 and under and that's usually it. It is worth it for us because of the discount you get for using it in the parks. Since we vacation at Disney frequently, that saves us some money.

There are probably better reward cards out there, but if you are saving specifically for Disney this card makes it very easy. We use it for everything, from the electric bill to the $1 sweet tea at McDonalds. We know that we travel to Disney every 1-2 years and we will have $500-800 in rewards points saved up to use. We treat it like a debit card so we never carry over a balance. Wait for a promo deal or search for one.

Chase does have other cards out there that give you more points for every type of purchase and I will be changing over to it after this upcoming WDW trip. But I have earned $1200 on the Disney card in the past 4 yr's. Yay that is helping to pay for our Savanana view rm at AKL this Sept. Like others have mentioned we use the card for everything including monthly bills like Comcast & Verizon. But we always pay it off before it is due. Paying interest and fees deletes the benefit of earning points.

Most people will find that there are much better cards out there... 1% back just isn't very competitive. The perks are alright, but you need to decide how much they are worth to you.

We put about $2,500 a month on our card (use it for everything and pay it off monthly) that gives us 2% back. That adds up to an extra $300 per year that we get by using this other card, which for us outweighs the perks.

We use our Disney VISA for everything and pay it off monthly. We go to Disney every 2 years and usually have $1000-$1200 on our reward card when we go. We use the reward card for everything we buy while we're there. We always have the dining plan and use the reward card for tips.

Has anyone used it for the Character meet and greet? And if yes, how does that work?

If you mean the one inside Epcot... my family and I do it every single time we take a trip to Epcot! It's located in the back of Innoventions (by the video games, fire truck, and house fire game). What happens is you go to the curtain during the times that they are doing it and present your Disney Visa card. A Disney Photopass Representative will be there taking a bunch of pictures for you guys. At the end, you stop by the Kodak booth underneath Spaceship Earth and get a free picture from your shoot. We've seen Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Mickey, and Pluto there. :) Have fun!

Could you go every day? Or just once per trip?

We have the Premier Visa and love it. I use it for all of my monthly bills and just pay it off each month. For the last trip in about 10 months I had accumulated $700 toward the trip. It has a lot of great perks too, like offers being released early to cardholders, and 10% off orders of $50 or more from DisneyStore.

If you accumulated $700 at 1%, you'd have earned $1,400 with one of the many 2% cards out there. Is the 10% off Disney store purchased worth $700 per year?

The person you quoted has the premier visa so they got 2% on groceries/gas and restaurants.

I have the Disney Premiere visa and it's sooo worth it! We use it for EVERYTHING and get an average of $70 a month in rewards. Most of our purchases seem to fall in the 2% range including our Walmart. It's totally worth it for us.

Also with the Premiere card you can use it for airfare with no black out dates. We always have a cruise/WDW trip planned so we don't use it for airfare and just use it as spending money on vacation.

We did the math and even with the $49 fee it's totally worth it for us.

We get 2% back with the Premier card on gas, groceries, and restaurants, which is a big chunk of our monthly bills. As the other poster stated, we also average about $70/month in rewards. Totally worth it for us.

We just got the Visa last weekend and should already have about $20 in rewards (for groceries, bills, and a payment towards our cruise). We haven't booked our resort stay, so that'll bump our points up big time!

I just got mine last month too and have $20, and I haven't even switched over all the bills! I'm averaging at least $50 a month in rewards just by using it seems like a deal!
