Is Disney expecting high hopes for the live-action version of The Little Mermaid?

Do you think the live-action The Little Mermaid will be a hit?

I got the junior novelization of the live-action The Little Mermaid for Christmas and as I read it it seems to be modeled after the original Hans Christian Andersen version of The Little Mermaid and seems to be a version of the Tom Hanks/Daryl Hannah movie Splash but from what I read there were new characters added to this version. Like instead of Carlotta from the original animated movie of The Little Mermaid the maid's name is Lashana and there's another character named Rosa and they have put a character named Queen Selina as Eric's mother and about the only character that's original was Sir Grimsby. I think Disney had high hopes that this version of The Little Mermaid was gonna be a huge hit and do just as good as when the animated version debuted in 1989 but I think Disney was concerned that it wouldn't be a hit and was afraid it would be a failure

Why I think in the first place Disney decided to do a live-action version of The Little Mermaid was simply because they wanted this one to be like the original Hans Christian Andersen story. Because if you read Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid the ending is very different because the mermaid actually doesn't marry the prince but when she sees the prince who was her crush get married to another girl the mermaid gets so sad she cries for him and I won't spoil the rest of the ending but the Hans Christian Andersen version of The Little Mermaid is what I think Disney was going for when they did this version. Because for so long Disney has always had a huge love affair with fairy tales and why I do think they have begun with live-action versions of classic fairy tales is I think Disney is trying to copy the Shelley Duvall's Fairy Tale Theater show of the 80's. I also am shocked at how much merchandising this movie made and I can tell you it's still selling big right now. I think we will see more The Little Mermaid live-action movies being made because Disney had high hopes for this movie to do well and they will continue to promote The Little Mermaid more
