We are doing research on our first cruise and just noticed that Special Offers/Magical Rates on Disney's website are good through tomorrow only. We aren't ready to book yet as DH still hasn't received confirmation of vacation yet. I'm so torn as to what to do because there is a magical rate available for the 4 day cruise that we want during first weekend of May.

1. Anyone know what the deal is with these rates?
2. Do they come out often?
3. What if we book now and prices go down?
4. Who better to book with - my TA, Dreams Unlimited or online/phone directly through Disney?
5. Anyone know if Canadians can book through Costco travel in the US by phone or web?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch, Tiger!

Im sorry the only thing I can really help you out with if the refund question. You do get a full refund as long as it is 60 days prior to your sail date. As long as you watch for price drops yourself (disney will not inform you) you can call Disney and they will honor the price reduction. If I were you I would go ahead and book while you have that discount and you can always get your money back if you change your mind. :D

Oh you just had to make me go look at the special prices. LOL I'm so NOT enjoying waiting till our cruise over a year from now- and I was about this close to deciding to go on a 4 night cruise THIS Feb (ie: less than a month from now) after checking out those prices (and expedia/travelocity flight prices). I think I've talked myself out of it though... LOL

1.) What do you mean "the deal" with the rates? From looking at them- it's my guess that they are trying to get more to book during specific dates- since they all seem to "skip" the dates around spring break, holidays, and summer. The dates I see there stop when our school year stops- and start back up in August when the kids are back in school here already. Just my guess...
2.) I don't know
3.) If you notice prices have gone down- you can get them reduced... you are not "stuck" at the price you pay when you book -unless it goes up... because if goes up you don't have to pay more ofcourse
4.) That is personal choice based on many different factors- some prefer going through Disney only, some prefer DU because of all the help/planning/etc. they do, some prefer their own TA or other TA's online because cheaper sometimes, etc.
5.) I have no idea.

I guess I can't help you much. :( Sorry!

"Special" prices come out at various times...usually when DCL is trying to fill a ship. The discounts tend to be off season, not during school vacations, etc. SOme discounts are announced as a sailing date approaches and a ship is relatively empty.

THere is no danger to advanced booking. You can cancel up to 60 days ahead and get a full refund. You can change dates after that and pay only a small "reticketing" fee. If the price of the cruise goes down and you contact them, DCL will match the new rate. THey won't notify you or automatically send a refund, but they will issue it if you ask.
