Is DCL still not putting your dining room rotation on room keys?

I know I read several months ago that DCL was no longer putting your dining rotation restaurants on your room key. Is this still true? And if so, how do you find out what your dining room rotation is?

Thanks!

Once you are on the “shipboard” version of app, in the cruise terminal or onboard, your dining room for each night will show in your activities. You will need to look at the app to know where to go the first night.

Each night, your servers (and the Head Servers, if they stop by) will tell you where you will be the next night.

Like others said it tells you on the app. Just go across the top until you hit dinning, think it starts with characters. My husband had to tell me you can scroll across…lol

Than it will list the places you can eat at. Scroll down to dinner and it will list your restaurant and in brackets will say reserved. That’s yours for the evening, You can click on the menu to see it if you want. I asked for a menu the first night and they brought me one every night after that.

I go on vacation to "unplug". I really hate that all cruise lines are forcing us to use apps now. I like putting my phone in the safe and not having to feel connected all the time.
I wonder if people have different definitions of unplugging. To me, unplugging means no internet and mostly that work can't get hold of me. :D Heck, I wish I could pay for stuff and open my room with the DCL app!

Me too. I didn't pay for internet so I could be disconnected from work/real life.

My phone is with me at all times to capture photos and videos of my vacations anyways. Though I will say that I LOVED how the app sent push notifications of events I had starred so I wouldn't miss anything (characters, activities, etc).

If I could ditch the keycard and just use my phone to unlock my door and pay at the stores I would!

So if you lock up your phone, does that mean you carry a camera? one of us always has our phone to capture those rare character moments on deck 4, or that perfect sunset. Im not sure I could carry a camera again. Plus for that moment of hunger and think, what’s on the menu for tonight. I don’t pay for internet, so I don’t get emails. Good riddens to the wave phones. Messaging on my iPhone is much easier. We’ve cruised 7 times since cruising returned in 2021 and since everything was on our phones, including menus back then, contacting guest services, adding tips. We’ve pretty much are use to it now. At least we get real menus now and we no longer have to get in an online queue to get off the ship while in port….that was the worse queue system ever.

I do. I carry a camera. But that is me and I love it. And I agree, the wave phones-terrible.

Thanks everyone for the info! I agree with you, PrincessShmoo, I do not want to be on my phone on a cruise. Is there anything else I'm going to need my phone for? I have a cruise booked on the Fantasy in late October this year. If I have to be on my phone all of time, I may cancel. It's just not something I'm willing to do. You're now able to get a copy of the daily activities, correct? I'm also reading that it's a pain to complete your online check-in.

Can you just write down your dining rotation when you get there and then lock up your phone?

I’m not asking to be a jerk, I just don’t know if it ever changes mid-cruise.

The Online check in is a lot better the last time we did it, just over a month ago. No issues and it was fast, worst part was being up at midnight.

And I don't mean to sound negative in anyway what so ever, but in this day and age, for better or worse, there really aren't that many place to go where you can just leave your phone. Just about every vacation place has an app and functionality. Almost all cruise lines have moved to this. But, for me, I do find that using my phone on a cruise is a lot different than being on land and connected. Yes, I use the app to check activities, I use my phone to take pictures and I have some games on it to kill some time, which is actually awesome because without internet access you don't get the ads :). Unless you pay for internet, work can't reach you. In fact, just think of it as an old PDA from the late 90s to early 00s.

Not really because the navigatior is also on the phone. So if you want to know what is going on ,when and where.

I usually make my husband carry my phone though because I have the better camera on mine so he carries both his and mine…lol Doesn’t have to carry both but he does.

I am just glad that DCL has the app available internationally. At Aulani we were being told to use the app all the time and it’s not in the German App Store, so I couldn’t get it. They told us all events are on the in room TV as well. But that wasn’t true and we missed out on the Storyteller at the fireplace because of it. Stumbled across it in our last evening.

Thanks for this info. I was going to plan to visit to Aulani next year. If I have to be on a phone and on an app, I will not be traveling there.
