Is Coronado Springs as bad as they say and can I change?

We've stayed here multiple times and our only real complaint is the food court. We love the pool and the staff is great, but we're just not a fan of the pepper market.

The size isn't really as bad as it seems unless you've been out at the park all day (or it's pouring outside), your room is far from the main building, and you need to make that trek to/from your room. The pool is centrally located, so we've found it's a short walk to some part of the pool from the casitas, cabanas, and ranchos. I think you'll enjoy the resort and all it has to offer (our son loves the marshmallow roasting by the fire pit).

I have reading this thread as we were forced to book CsR due to my stupidity on a bounceback offer. Anyways. We are POR fans and are not too overly excited about our change.

My concerns are the lack of disney feeling. Theming etc. Is mickey, disney totally taken out or does one feel like at disney. You know that have a magical day feeling??

Another concern is distance, walking 10 min for a once a day thing is ok, but not for üool time when I might be running back to room for various reasons. We booked a junior suite. Blg casitas 1 or 3. i have been told. Can anyone comment. 1. it's really a quick jolt to peppermarket. BUt what about dig site. What' s faster via lobby or casistas 5???

I can't see where CSR is any less "Disney feeling" than POR. All of the moderates are "themed" resorts, so they all lack the in-your-face abundance of characters like you find at the values. (Personally, I think this is a positive and prefer the more relaxed atmospheres of the moderates). I was actually very nervous for our first stay at POR because I thought it was less themed than CSR and CBR. I was so disappointed that our family of 5 had outgrown the other resorts and were "forced" to stay at POR, but we wound up loving it.

As for the walking... We stayed in Casitas 2 (about the same distance from the pool as 1&3). I didn't think the walk was bad at all and our kids were 10, 5, and 2(turning 3 the following week). I just found a list of distances on AllEars and the farthest point (main bldg) to the Dig Site pool is 1/3 of a mile.

I have done three solo trips; POR is my home resort. But I have considered CSR as my next choice for a solo trip. I think other than the access to DTD via the water taxi, it has all the beautiful amentities that POR has as a moderate resort and would make a lovely choice.

I would also be curious who "they" were as well; I have read reviews about say, POR or CBR, where I have also stayed, on websites that allow you to post your reviews. By some of the reviews, I am amazed we stayed in the same resort, let alone the same property. Some things people will print just for the sake of complaining about a poor trip that may have been caused by an event other than what occurred at the resort.

We stayed at this resort once and it is our favorite of all the moderates!! I can't imagine anyone hating it. It would be our first choice if we were to stay anywhere outside of our DVC :) The pool is gorgeous and I like the grounds and room decor.

It's a great resort. After you stay there you'll fall in love. I recommend the 7 in 7 episode of it. Pete hated it with a passion, but was converted. Now it's his favorite moderate.

We stayed at CSR and then at POR Royal Room. Royal room was cute but... CSR the pool is sooo much better. DD loved the slide. We'll be back and when I asked DH and DD where they wanted to stay they both said CSR. I didn't find the resort to be too big. We were in Cabanas and felt the walk to the food court and the main pool were both reasonable. We were really close to a bus stop and the buses ran great. Hoping we get as lucky this time around.

CSR is a beautiful resort. I stayed in Ranchos section and we enjoyed it. The only drawback of this hotel was our location and the length of time it took to get to the main building to fill up a mug or grab a bite to eat. The rooms were clean, beds comfy, bus service was great. I will stay there again but next time I'll book the Casitas section just to be closer to the main building. No worries, have a great vacation!!

Someone just posted that BC has discounted rooms available for Spring. That main pool at BC is the best one in the "world."
