Is Coronado Springs as bad as they say and can I change?

This is our favorite moderate (although we have not stayed at POFQ yet - doing that August 2015). A lot of people here call CSR the deluxe lite, and for good reason: has a fitness center and spa.

If you can keep your free dining and get preferred room, or even better business class, that would be my only recommendation (to consider). If you cannot keep free dining with a room category change, I would just recommend keeping that great deal. CSR is a fantastic resort in any room category.

We stayed at CSR over Christmas week. Really liked the resort. Had no problems with the bus-waited 15 minutes once. Our room was in good shape, housekeeping was fine. Our room was in the Casitas section and thought it was great for getting around. My teenage son liked the Pepper Market and we thought the food was fine. It was our first moderate (have stayed BC, YC, AKL) and would have no problem staying at CSR again. I say give it a try.

We Love CSR because it is spread out. The grounds are beautiful and delightful to walk. It has one of the nicest Hot Tubs and Pool areas for adults and kids. Food court, Pepper's Market, has a good variety of decent food but it is unusual they add on a gratuity since they bring your Drink (refills too) to the table but you get your own food and pay on way out. Outdoor Bars (2), Rix's Lounge, grab and go and Maya Grill make for additional food choices. If renting a car there is plenty of parking close to rooms. If using Disney Transport ask for a room (TA could make room request for you before hand) close to a bus stop. We have stayed there many times and count it as one of our favorite Moderate Resorts. Hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!
Pepper Market no longer works this way. We were there for Christmas and it is just like any other food court at Disney now. You line up at the various stations to get your food, pay and get your own drinks. We thought the food was really good and were just reminiscing about the amazing turkey club sandwiches! We would not hesitate to go back again!

We stayed at CSR in 09 and loved it. Yes, it's a large, sprawling resort but it was nice and relaxing after a hectic day in the parks. Beautiful landscaping, loved the food court and fantastic pool. Would definitely return.

Colorado Springs is a beautiful resort. I am not fond of their QS options, but that is a minor detail in comparison to the beautiful appointments in the rooms, the well-kept grounds, the theming and the cast members.

We've stayed there once and loved it... Only on our first stay.

We've experience all the moderates now and we don't like it as much as we used to now (we've stayed 1 night in November and couldn't wait to leave)

It's not a bad resort but the rooms look dated and we felt that the other moderates were all superior to CSR (we don't use the gym on vacation and we never get spa treatments so if it's an upgrade then it doesn't make a difference for us).

Now that I have tried POR and CBR, I can't see myself going back to CSR.

We're staying there in 10 days (woo hoo)! We've never been before, but I'm excited about it. It seems most of the poor reviews are centered on the size of the resort (not an issue for us) and/or the lack of overt Disney theme (also a non-issue for us). I think you can also get breakfast at the pool site now, which will reduce walking time for those in Ranchos. Can you refill your mug at the pool as well?

Yes you can refill at the pool snack bar. This was very helpful for us because we were close to the pool but far from the main building. The snack bar is right by the actual pool bar so our girls got free refills while we got out adult beverages!

Thanks for the info about change at PM. I was basing it on our Aug 2014 trip. Either way we always enjoy Pepper's Market and CSR!

Like another pp said, you can refill your mugs at the pool and they are now permanently serving breakfast at the pool site.

Only bad reviews I have seen are about the size. Many people LOVE this resort as indicated by posts above. Do some investigating now and see which side you will line up on. Size doesn't bother me!

I have read all of the posts on this thread as well as ALL of the CSR thread as well. I am staying at this resort for the first time in April, and my only concern is how far the main pool is from where we will be staying.
Which building did you request? I was in Cabanas, 8b. The best location ever! its right by the pool. At the pool there's quickservice and mug refills, so there's no need to go to the main building (unless QS doesnt have what you want). CSR also has roomservice and a gym, which is a bonus.

Its a gorgeous resort, so beautiful! And CSR has by far the best bus service i've ever had at any of the other mods/values. (never stayed deluxe). OP, i wouldnt worry. Its a gorgeous resort, rooms were clean and mousekeeping was wonderful. Sure its a big resort, but I found CBR to be bigger than CSR, am I wrong? Anyway, I wouldnt change resorts. Have fun!

I have stayed many times here and loved every visit! I cannot imagine spending that much money to move resorts to not stay here. Perhaps I could see spending the extra GBP to move TO CSR!

This is a beautiful resort! Yes, it is big. If walking 10-15 min to the main building from your room is an issue, I would book preferred. Otherwise, look at the different sections and request your favourite. I personally like all three areas.

Many people stay here and do not like the theme. JMO, but I think that theses people come from areas of the USA that live in that style everyday. Therefore they don't find it "special" or Disney".

Others don't like to see convention people at the resort. I don't get it, but if it bothers you then perhaps another resort might be a better choice. Seriously, I feel that all these conventioneers are busy working and not using the buses to get to the theme parks. That makes more room for us vacationers! Plus, there are additional amenities t this mod because it is a convention resort.

This is a great resort! You were right with your original assessment that all Disney resorts are awesome.

Go ahead! Stay here and enjoy your trip! I think that you will love it and come away wondering what all the fuss is about!

Oh yes,
If you do arrive and have issues, Disney will try to move you to another resort where you feel that you will be happier. No penalties! So no need to worry at all!

3 past stays CSR the only bad thing about it is the wait at Pepper Market for food. Dig Site is awesome, picture taking opts all over the place.

A lot of complaints are about the size but is the CSR but we loved it. We are DVC now so we haven't been back in a few years, but anytime we are paying cash CSR is the first place we check. It is easily our favorite mod.

I have reading this thread as we were forced to book CsR due to my stupidity on a bounceback offer. Anyways. We are POR fans and are not too overly excited about our change.

My concerns are the lack of disney feeling. Theming etc. Is mickey, disney totally taken out or does one feel like at disney. You know that have a magical day feeling??

Another concern is distance, walking 10 min for a once a day thing is ok, but not for üool time when I might be running back to room for various reasons. We booked a junior suite. Blg casitas 1 or 3. i have been told. Can anyone comment. 1. it's really a quick jolt to peppermarket. BUt what about dig site. What' s faster via lobby or casistas 5???

Thank you for your responses, they have put my mind at rest. I was concerned about the dated rooms and several rat sightings but with how many positive responses have been posted it must be ok.

Please don't loose £700 and dining plan based on other opinions. You liked the look of the resort when you booked so stick with it. That's too much money. Ive stayed at all the mods plus SSR and GF and we have chosen to go back to CSR this May. It was a price decision but as I liked it before and had good bus service and liked the lake side bar for margarita's it was an easy pick. We spend so little time at ten resort and in our room it seems silly to spend £1000 more to stay at a deluxe this time. We like to go on hols twice a year so can put any extra money to a second holiday ( spoilt - I know) I know I will have just a good a time. Some of the review sites make me laugh. Trust your initial instincts.

Have a great time

We stayed there September 2014. Its big but we got a good spot close to a bus stop. I liked it.
