I currently reserved a garden view wing room for six nights for early December at the Contemporary. This will be our first Christmas trip and we will be spending most of our stay at the parks, unless the weather allows for pool time then we'll squeeze that in for one day or two. My question is, are the tower rooms worth the extra $$$? We are a family of five, two little ones (two strollers), one teen and two adults.

Thanks for any information/suggestions/tips ;)

Good question! I would love to stay at a monorail resort, but just don't know how I can afford it!!! Contemporary Magic Kingdom View or polynesian with the same view would be a dream for me!!!! Sorry I can't answer your question, but I would love to know what you decide!!

If you are planning to spend a lot of time in the parks, then the wing room should be fine for you. Sure, it's nice to sit out on your balcony and watch the fireworks from an MK view, but you pay a lot of extra money for that. The wing rooms are the same size and laid out the same, except that there is no balcony. I found them to be quieter than the tower rooms, and it was easier to walk to and from MK without having to wait for the tower elevators (which were always full and took forever to arrive). There is a covered walkway to the tower, in case the weather is bad.

"Worth it" is too subjective. We don't know your budget or how much more you'll like the view. For me, yeah, it'd be worth it.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The location is amazing!!!! Being in the Tower and having the monorail a mere elevator ride away is priceless with 2 in strollers. The view is breathtaking, and you can watch Wishes (or MVMCP fireworks) from your balcony at night. While the little ones sleep, you and your teen can sit on the balcony and see the MK. Your teen can ride the elevator down to the 4th floor concourse to go to the game room. You'll be able to see the giant Christmas tree decorated in front of the CR right from your balcony, and see the Castle decorated too (there are rumors the Castle will have twinkle lights this year). IMHO, it is well worth the money to stay in the Tower Theme Park View Room! Location, location, location and VIEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are a few pics from our trip last September.

Id have to say yes too. We stayed with 2 little ones and sometimes they were asleep before the fireworks. It was great to see from our balcony and great to see the castle change colors during the night. The sounds of the MK train and seeing so much from that high is fantastic.

The Tower rooms are worth the extra money weather you wanted the Magic Kingdom view or Bay Lake view. However I was checking the dates around Christmas and both the Magic Kingdom view and Bay Lake view were 100% sold out around Christmas, so right now you might not be able to change your reservation. However someone could always cancel so you might lucky, but you would have to keep checking because once a room becomes available they could be taken very fast.

We upgraded from our wing room to a MK tower room on our trip in 2003. We asked at check in and we paid for it. We were glad we did as we were on the 11th floor with an AMAZING view of the MK!!! We loved being in the main tower and getting off the monorail with the stroller and just hopping on an elevator to get to our room. The kids also loved coming out of our room and watching all the excitement going on below at Chef Mickeys. I would love to stay at the CR again if our budget would allow us to!!

I think the question is, how much time will you be spending in your room? We stayed in the Garden wing and ended up with a great view of the Electric Light Parade on the water. If it were me, I'd save my extra $$ to spend in the park.

Thanks a bunch for all your suggestions/information ;)

I think I'll keep the garden wing room, since this trip we'll be going to the parks everyday.
