Is Clermont too far from WDW?

By too far I mean over 20-30 minutes. I have found a very reasonable vacation home in the Orange Tree subdivision that will work great. Also has anyone had any experience with Welcome Homes USA?

Thanks-I'd be lost without this board! Just wait until I'm "on the loose" in Orlando for the first time on my own :p , such a shame I can't fit everyone here in the car-I'm sure I'll need some help once I'm there! ;)

I didn't have any address but according to mapquest where I entered Clermont and Lake Buena Vista it mapped from the center of Clermont to the area around the Polynesian andit said 45 minutes and 30 miles.

Thanks for doing that! (duh!-I never even thought about doing that!) I do have the actual address and it gives me 18 miles and 25 minutes to Lake Buena Vista, FL. We are getting a great pool home at such a bargain-10 nights for $1435 (heating pool and tax included at that price) for 5 bedrooms, I think I may be able to stand the drive!

Thanks again!

If I'm not mistaken, Orange Tree is on Hwy 27 south of Clermont (city proper). It's a straight shot - 27 south to 192 to the "World", but I'd figure it in *at least* the 30 minute range. Of course, this depends on what time of year you're traveling.

I've always rented 192 communities: Indian Ridge, Rolling Hills, Windsor Palms (to name a few of many!). We've rented through loyaltyusa.com and vrbo.com with great results.

Give a shout if I can help.

Denise < --- was thinking of buying down there for awhile, so did some investigating ;)

Thanks I appreciate the info. I've been on line most of the day "researching" and I'm exhausted. There are so many to choose from and at the same time it's so hard to find an exact match to what I'm looking for ! This was a whole area of vacationing I had never thought of, until the recent issues with the AP discounts, rather the lack of them!

the US 27 does have very many lights - but US 192 when it starts in Kissimmee has a bunch of lights - make sure you put these in your calculations - this can add 20 minutes to your trip. Especially if you are unlucky and miss them all - I have....

Orange tree on the 27n is probably about 15mins from disney. it has a Winn Dixie almost at the entrance and soon a walmart is to be built nearby. You could use the back sherbeth rd access to disney from the 192 .

My DH drove from WL to Clermont last year for a race and he said it took him at least 45 minutes to an hour to get there.

This was very early in the morning and hardly any traffic.

back route to Disney

along the 192 and take a left into either Black Lake Road or Sherberth Road. This takes you along a windy lane to a set of traffic lights by Animal Kingdom and you just turn right to get onto the Disney ring road. On your way back from anywhere in Disney just follow the signs for Animal Kingdom and then Animal Kingdom Lodge. When you get to the lights just before the Lodge, turn left and this takes you back onto the 192. It saves a lot of time!

Florida fam: Orange Tree is not in Clermont itself but approx 2 miles? up from the junction with the 192 so unless therrewas really heavy traffic it shouldn't take that long.
