Is Chef Mickey's really for the birds?

Is there really a bird problem at Chef Mickey's? I haven't been in years, and my family wants me to make ADRs for this August. However, I have no desire to be pooped on by a bird or have a bird eat off of my plate.

Please tell me that this won't happen.

Also...we haven't had dinner there since about 1998. I've seen some horrible reviews; will we be too disappointed? :confused3

Honestly the birds aren't that much of a problem the way others make them out to be. While it's true that they could fly into the 4th floor because of the opening for the Monorail's, during my recent stays at the Contemporary when I would eat at the Contempo Cafe which is located right next to Chef Mickey's, not once did I see any birds flying over us or landing on any of the tables.

People will rave about it, unfortunately I choose to skip it as I think it is over-priced and over-rated! The last time we went for dd's birthday at breakfast and the server brought a cupcake with a candle, no characters came by while her dd and I sang happy birthday, the server didn't even stick around to sing either.

I remember a few years back they'd decorate the table a bit and at least one character would come by. It was a disappointment to her and ridiculously expensive (if you don't have the ddp) so we choose to go elsewhere for our character dining experiences.

In all my trips to the Contemporary, I've never had a problem with birds or even heard of such a thing.

I am always more concerned about fellow patrons rather than the birds. People can really be gross at buffets. Ive seen fingers, clothing, jewelry and handbags all come in contact with food at these places. Someone here posted that a lady dropped her cellphone in the ranch at CM too.

Ive seen the birds at the contempo cafe and Chef Mickeys and theyve never really been a problem.
Its usually busy so lots of people about to scare the birds.
Ive seen more late at night when its quieter and the bright lights attract them.

last may, when we ate there, a lady sitting at a table a cross from us got pooped on... hahaha! sorry for laughing but i had a little giggle.. i know it was not funny to her.. but we love chef mickey and still will be back
