We went the week after Thanksgiving last year. The park was really quiet Wed, Thurs, and Friday morning before it got crazy crowded Friday night and Saturday. I think a lot of extra people came for the candlelight processional and DTD Disney sale. Are those annual events on the first weekend of December?

The Candlelight Processional is always on the first Sat/Sun of December, or at least it has been for the last decade or so, I think. The CP draws notoriously large crowds to DLR, but the dinner packages for it are no longer sold so I would assume this cuts down on some of the crowds. Now, if you want to get a seat for the CP, you have to get lucky.

The sale - do you mean the AP early opening event thing? I'm not sure. I could be wrong, but I think that sale may change dates each year. I know I was at DLR on one particular December day 2 years ago when World of Disney was having its big AP early opening sale thing, and that was later in the month, not early December. But that could have been a different sale?:confused3 Not sure.

I am not sure what the sale was all about. We just walked by hundreds and hundreds of people in line (snaking around back and forth like the ride lines with police doing crowd control). We were more interested in getting to the park so we didn't stop to ask what was going on.

It sounds like it was probably a sale that World of Disney has, when they let AP holders in early for bigger discounts - or sometimes there is a special pin or something limited edition involved. The AP holders will line up very early and the line snakes around. So based on the date I saw that sale line happening in 2009, I am guessing that there is either more than one sale like that each holiday season, or the date for the sale changes from year to year.

Last year the Annual Passholder early shopping day was on Dec 4th and the year previous was on Dec 5th which happens to be the first Saturdays of Dec and also during CP time. The Annual Passholder early shopping day is in the morning and only goes to about 9 or 10 am. I also know that in years past that they have Annual Passholder Appreciation Days which run for a few days.

Maybe it was an AP Appreciation Day, but I remember being there on Saturday, December 19, 2009, and World of Disney had an enormous line outside of it, early in the morning. There was some sort of early sale thing happening, but not sure if it was for AP holders or someone else? Do you know what that could have been?

I do remember what it was :) it was another Annual Passholder and DVC members shopping days except these dates did not give out free Vinylmation and opened at 8am instead of 6:30am and was the 12th and 19th we went on the first Saturday and got some great deals. :)
