Is Boma really a must do?

We have never eaten at Bomas. I have read so many good things about it, but am a little scared of the food. I don't consider any of my family picky, but after looking at the menu I just don't know. I would like to try it, but with so many other resturants to choose from I'm just not sure.

my family is split on Boma... DS#1 and I love it and enjoy trying the new food and spices. DH and DS#2 , who really only like mac and cheese, pizza, burger and pasta with plain red sauce.. do not like it and after the second time we went refused to go again.

If you are looking for more "mainsteam" buffet food.. check out Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace.

Our family enjoys Bomas. We find enough selection to satisfy everyone. From the prime rib and chicken to the dishes with spices(nothing hot) salads and pretty good selection of desserts.

My sister, niece and I loved Boma this past summer. There is plenty of variety for all eaters. I loved the opportunity to try some African fare that I normally would never have tried. Being a super buffet, there is a great variety of foods available. Wish I could have some sun dried tomato hummus and lavash right now!
We loved both the breakfast buffet and the dinner buffet. Of course, we did stay at the AKL and loved everything about our stay!

Four adults two children in our party.

Most of us were spectularly unimpressed. And it isn't a "we are only meat and potatoes" thing either. We eat a lot of exotic foods - from sushi to Korean to Thai to Middle Eastern.

The soups were fantastic however. But $25 for soup is a little much.

I've been to Boma's several times--it's basically a do not miss place for us. However, my sister and I brought our mother who ended up getting some of her food off the kids table, and basically the place was lost on her (my sister also loves the place). I brought my 5yo, who is a good eater. When I go to WDW next month with my 11yo I will not bring him. He's a picky eater and would have a tough time. We'll stick to the more mainstream places.

Whether or not you'll like it, it just depends. Maybe give it a try and see what you think.

I agree with this. There really is something for everyone. I think the reviews sometimes make Boma sound much more exotic than it actually is. Yes, you will find some sauces and veggies that you don't usually encounter, but you'll also find roasted chicken, potatoes, beef and pretty common things. I can't imagine anyone going hungry there.

Boma is a must-do for us. It's one of DD4's favorite restaurants. I think the food is just fantastic. The desserts alone are worth going for (and the soups, salads...) If you're into trying new things, go for it.

WE have been to Boma twice over the years. It is NOT a must do, but a place for when we're in the mood for something "out-of-the-ordinary", It really depends on the individual and their tastes as to whether they will like it or not. I have to be careful with my selections. I like a "little" curry, but a little goes a long way. I can not tolerate coriander, so some of the selections are out. If you have any sensitivity to some spices, be sure to ask your server and a chef will advise you what to avoid.

As others have pointed out, there is probably more variety (including some pretty normal stuff) than one might imagine. If you do not have overly picky eaters, and since you've not eaten there...give it a try.
No one will starve...and you can determine if it becomes MUST DO for your family.
The servers and chefs at a lot of Disney eateries are used to explaining and talking with diners, so feel free to fire away in search of info.

We have never eaten there for dinner but breakfast is FANTASTIC!! Give it a shot. It's rated as one of the best buffets in Orlando too!

Enjoy!

We ate at Boma's in October while staying at AKL. It was our first trip after DD reached age 12, so our first time with 3 adult dinner buffet costs. She didn't care for the place, and ate very little (she's is not a picky eater) so for us it was not worth it. The variety was interesting, but our waiter wasn't the best, so I won't go out of our way to go back.

I'm a picky eater and I love it. There are some many different things, especially that I would not think I like but I do. My husband absolutely loves it. There is also normal food for picky eaters so you can try a lot and still eat normal stuff even if you don't like it. It's food you don't normally get to eat, and I think it's a must do.

We enjoy it alot. It is also a great opportunity to go to AKL where you can check out the animals, enjoy the firepit, do a hidden Mickey hunt, etc. We really like it.

Not a MUST DO, but we enjoy the food. One of the few places at WDW where you can get a good cup of coffee.

Make sure you plan a couple of hours at AKL, so you can check out the animals, the amazing lobby, and probably the best resort gift shop at WDW.

We ate dinner there, probably never again. They were very poor in handling my food allergies.

Breakfast on the other hand was yummy and they were great with the allergy issue.

Dinner, not again. Breakfast, planning on it next fall with a friend!

Went to Boma last May and it definetly will not be a repeat for DH and I. DH will eat anything but he has said he wouldn't go back. I am the picky eater and wound up eating the mac & cheese from the children's area. Desserts and coffee were by far the best IMHO. I'm glad we went once for the experience and the surroundings, which were beautiful. For us, however, we'll take LeCellier any day!

BOMA is a must do for us, we love everything about it. For us, it's a combination of atmosphere, service and variety of food that we can't really get in one sitting. We've only been twice, but both times the service was fantastic and we still remember the CMs pretty fondly. As with anything it would be nice to try at least once, and then feel for yourself if it's worth a return trip. Have fun whatever you decide!!

and always make it a "must eat" everytime we visit WDW. The food is great, the food quality is excellent and the AKL makes for wonderful atmosphere.

Enjoy!

We loved Boma last month! I was a little nervous about is since I"m really a meat and potatoes girl and dd, 11, is very narrow in her eating (aka picky). But dh loves different foods so I booked it for dinner. It was a huge hit. Dd found plenty on the kids station to fill her up. I made 3 or 4 trips back to the food stations. And dh was in food heaven!! It was visually quite wonderful as well. We will be going back again!
