Is BCV or BW closer to Swan and Dolphin?

My husband has a conference at the Swan and Dolphin in October. I am getting ready to book him a room and just wondered if it would be better to stay at BCV or BW. Thanks for any input!

It seems like it's close, but from a walking standpoint - Boardwalk. You just walk over the bridge @ the end of the Boardwalk and you come right to the Swan/Dolphin boat dock.

Many years ago, we walked from the Yacht Club to the S/D dock THE OTHER WAY - we didn't have a clue -- and I just remember it seemed like a million miles away - it has to do with how the sidewalks run and where the lake is - it just seemed so far.

In fact, I think it would be quicker to leave Beach Club - go to the Boardwalk and walk to the other end of the Boardwalk and cross the bridge than the way we walked that one time.

Someone may know some better way than I do from the Beach/Yacht Club side, but I don't know of one.

In general BWV would be closer than BCV, though depending on exactly which room you are in the difference could be pretty minimal (e.g. the farthest BWV room might be a similar distance as the closest BCV room). This assumes you are talking walking distance. If you are taking the boat it is faster to/from BCV since it is the stop immediately before/after Swan/Dolphin. But October is a busy time for both resorts so if you are thinking of getting a room you should call soon to see what is available.

Boardwalk is closer ... but we're only talking about 5 minutes walking closer than Beach Club. Not a huge difference.

Boardwalk -- but don't book a standard room (the ones with lower DVC point values) . Book a Boardwalk or Preferred view room and ask to be on the "Dolphin-end" of the building. Use the stairway and exit at the very end of the hallway for easy and quick access to the bridge between Boardwalk and Swan.

Best route from the Yacht Club to the Dolphin is across the parking lots. Exit the Yacht Club at the main entrance and turn LEFT. Follow the private drive towards a parking lot (employee parking?), walking around traffic barriers as needed, to the backside of the Dolphin Convention Center. Enter the Dolphin at the first unlocked door.

LOL! We definitely didn't do that -- in fact, I was looking at that area while on the boat last trip trying to figure out how we did walk. I just remember that the sidewalk went in a big "U" shape I think (with water in the middle) -- maybe more than once -- and that's why it took so long even though it seemed close. Having been in the parking lots of all those resorts, I see that would be the closest way.

Take the boat. No sense getting over heated walking in business cloths for a meeting.

Perhaps an aerial shot will help. This was posted by another DISser:

Oh yeah, if you follow the green line that runs in front of the Dolphin and around those 2 inset bodies of water -- THAT'S the way we walked to the dock. And I think in looking at it now maybe we even missed the dock the first time and went too far and had to backtrack or something. It seemed very very far, whether it really was or not. It was 1996 - I'm a lot Disney smarter now!
