We are still thinking of buying into SSR before the current promotion ends (although I would love to know what the next one is) but I was wondering what they are saying is your closing date. When will your points be available?
I know I could call my guide and ask, but if anyones knows I'd appreciate it.
I'm still working numbers and depending on when the points become availabe will actually make a difference right now. Thanks!

I bought into SSR the 1st week of Dec. My closing date is 3/31 and I have 2 trips booked after that. So the 2005 points are available already as part of the promotion, I took the $1500 off of the cost, as long as I didn't want to travel before the closing date. And guide advised me I could start making plans right away, so I did. Use year is most important for banking and borrowing purposes.
HTH :)

When I went through the presentation at SSR a couple of weeks ago, they were talking about a June closing, because they have to get a CO on the building you are buying into. Although you're buying points, there is a physical place your points are tied to, and that building is under construction -- which is the reason for the discount. I think the use year was August, but I wouldn't swear to that.

My guide indicated UY was flexible based on what I wanted. We talked about UY of June through December, this is when the points would start. I think it could even go into next year if I want. Pay dues only on the months after the points kicked in (after your UY).

$500 down once you make a committment to buy. The rest of the downpayment within 30 days although he stated Disney is not hard on holding people to the 30 days - could do it within 60 days.

The payments on any loans would start as they normally would, I guess. Once the paperwork is processed, within 2-3 months, as opposed to waiting until you started getting points.

My guide committed to me that as long as I left a message on his voice mail before midnight EST on Feb 28 with an intent to purchase, they would still honor the incentive that ends at the end of the month. The rest of the process would take place in the following couple of days, as the guides start catching up with all the sales.

The incentive is $10 off per point or getting free points (your purchase amount) to use by Sept 30 with no dues. So you could get points right away if you wish.

I am much closer to doing this. :earboy2: Just need to make sure the DW feels good about it. :love2:

We just purchased at SSR - the paperwork states

Agreement date 2/3/5
Estimated Closing Date 4/4/5
UY December 05
1st monthly payment due 6/1/5

We have borrowed to go home in May for 6 nights and today just confirmed my reservation for Dec for a week

We took the $10 per point incentive too.

Congratulations & Welcome Home, Neighbor!
(I just love to say that to DVC/SSR newbies, like myself)

Wow! I can't believe it takes so long to close on new points. I just sent in my check to purchase SS and will close in 3-4 weeks. Is that maybe because I am purchasing someone elses points? The broker said I can plan my trip as soon as a month from now and since I have leftover from last years I can plan as soon as it goes through ROFR. The broker also said that the SS have not been ROFR so far since they are selling new. Does anyone know if that is true?

We have a June use month, DH is insisting we go ahead. I will pay the remainder of the down by March 3rd, unsure when it will close. We too took the $10 off per point. I trust Disney, but the whole thing about dues yearly for the next 50 years scares me...and then DH asked what I intended to do with the money...pay off the 150 points by June 2006 or what ? I said I just wanted to save it...didn't go over big...so we will be completing the paperwork next weekend, and closing soon. Then I asked DH what he wanted to do with the points...he said "save them" ! Talk about nerves !!! I am terrible about making big purchases, and this is a big purchase with nothing but pleasure as the payback...not that pleasure is unimportant, but I am VERY careful with money...

We just sent in our paperwork on Friday (yay). The closing date is June 7, and the use month is August. We have our first trip home planned for November -- received the ressies about 3 days after making the call. BTW the MS's questions were really easy to answer thanks to all of the posts on these boards :earsgirl: I have picked up so much here, and I think anyone who considers buying should lurk for a bit to pick up the skinny IMHO.

I spoke with someone on Friday and was told I would have a December use year.

when you buy through Disney itself though I found I could book the day I paid the 500 deposit. I didn't have to wait for the actual 'closing' date.

That is quite true. I don't close until 3/31 and I've got 2 trips booked already. One I booked right away, and the 2nd one I booked in early January at the 11 month window.

I talked with a resale agent last night and was told Disney had been ROFR'ing SSR under $79.

............this is the reason why it makes more sense right now to look in to a SSR resale than from disney if you can arrange your own financing..........we did our SSR resale and had points available right away........how........we told the seller we would pay in full to TTS escrow and that they should transfer all their 04 and 05 points to us asap.........they agreed because they knew they were getting paid.........if the ROFR got us we agreed to refund the points of pay 10 a point for them...........so we got 720 points right away............Resales can be very flexible and many deals have banked points............call the TTS store and tell them what you want............there are always resales due to many factors..............

we bought ours in early DEC 04 for 75 a point with fully banked points for 04............the contract never made it to the TTS list..........trust me it can happen if you know what you want and you dont procrastinate

My husband and I just put down the initial $500 to get the process started---we were able to make reservations this morning for September '05. I think our target closing date is June 7th. The portion we are buying into won't be complete until August. Like you, we are curious to find out what the March incentives will be too, but couldn't afford to pass on the $1500.00 break now---guess it's a toss up---we'll be sick if March rolls around with deeper discounts, although, truthfully, not slamming Disney at all, it's my most FAVORITE place in the world, but I don't think BIG DISCOUNTS are very common. I do think that if you are going to be a frequent Disney visitor, DVC is the only way to go if you're like us and hooked on staying inside---WL Twice-Doubletree Suites, once. Doubletree was nice, the rooms were large and we had a great time, but there is just something about staying at a Disney Resort!
