This weekend we purchased a macbook pro from best buy. They had a promotion running where you received a free ipad mini 2 with purchase. We didn't need the ipad, but if it's free we'll take it to seem like we're getting somewhat of a deal on the computer.

Anyway, when looking at our receipt, I'm wondering if we'd be able to return the ipad? I'm not trying to pull anything over on anyone, but it looks like it splits the discount of the 2 items (the macbook and the ipad) between them.

I'll try to attach a copy of my receipt showing what I'm talking about.

Any idea if I could return for the $200 showing on the receipt?

I would call and ask, i no longer shop there. Anything beyond 30 days you only get a gc for the store.

As PP said when they scan the receipt the system will know it is a promo and you won't get anything for the iPad.

Yeah if you don't want it or won't use it sell it on ebay. I'm pretty sure they'd know it was a promo.

There return policy window is based on your rewards elite status.

With the free, or non status, its 15 days,
with the first level of status is 30 days,
and with the top level of status its 45 days.

I used to work for Best Buy. When they had the free promotional items and you tried to return the item it would give you 0.00$ as a credit. If you returned the MacBook it would actually deduct the amount of the Ipad's retail price off the return if the ipad wasn't returned as well. Your best option would be to sell it to someone else or online.

thank you everyone for the quick replies!

I will definitely not try to return it. I wasn't trying to pull anything over on them. I know they can track everything anymore. I was just surprised by the way it came out on the receipt and thought maybe it was more of a buy this bundle for a certain price and each item was discounted a certain percentage of the total price.

Not a big deal. I don't have an ipad for myself, so will either keep it or try to sell on ebay or our local facebook group.

Again, thanks so much for the information! I knew I could find the answer here!
