Cuz I'm about ready to take the kitchen scissors and cut all my hair OFF!! Oh it's driving me batty!! I need to get it cut just to get some shape and style going cuz I am the pony tail queen right now...which makes me look about 10!! My DF's little boy said to me the other day when I had my hair down "Wow...I didn't know you had hair that hangs like that!!!" :rotfl: My sweetie even keeps say "Honey...y'know if you want to get a hair cut..." But I don't want to spend $100 on a shape session...y'know? My wedding hair stylist has nicely threatened me if I cut even one inch off my hair as he has this whole idea for my wedding do!! (He's also a make up artist for Chanel, so he is just VERY uptight and FUSSY!!! ;) )

anybody else going through this? I have a hair appointment for the day after my wedding so I won't be going crazy on our honeymoon!!

just needed to whine...I feel much better now!! :rotfl: princess: :wizard:

Yes! I'm right there with you. We've (finally!) been getting warmer weather too and I just hate the idea of having to go through summer with long-ish hair. A few months back I got my final style before I made myself buckle down and just grow it. For some reason I chose an angular bob as my last cut - my worst decision yet. It's growing out uneven and heavy at the bottom (ugh) but I'm getting it evened up soon and I'm hoping that will help me see light at the end of the tunnel. I just don't know what to do with hair that goes past my shoulders. I hate to take the time every single day to do something to it, so I've been living in ponytail city too. At least you have a plan for your hair - I'm just growing it because it's going to make styling it easier, I hope!

My hair has been driving me crazy for months now b/c of "the wedding". It's far longer than I normally wear it and I'm tempted to cut it off on a daily basis. Luckily, my hairdresser came up with a better reason than the wedding to keep letting it grow. LOCKS OF LOVE. I repeat that phrase to myself daily so that I don't grab the scissors closest to me and go crazy! I'm going to give the hair away after the wedding, but it has be 10+ inches long for the charity to make a wig from it.

So my fiance removes any visible scissors anywhere near me, and I think about helping someone with little to no hair because of cancer or other causes. That keeps "my hair is driving me nuts" in perspective!

I am with all of you! Luckily, I am going next Friday to get a trim and color. I am telling you though, when I get back from the Honeymoon, this stuff GOES!!!

And I thought I was the only crazy bride! I am the ponytail DIVA! I wore my hair down & straightened the other day & Dwayne said what did you do it looks great! I actually "did" something besides the ever popular pony tail!

Oh, I totally know what you mean. I hated it and I didn't think I would grow it at all for the wedding, but then I found this awesome headband and my hairdresser told me all the cool things she could do. I only gave it about 5 months to grow. It did look amazing! Once all my friends/family saw the pictures they said "look at all that hair!" 2 weeks after returning home from the honeymoon it went back to short. Sorry these pix are so big :badpc:

Up until about two months ago my hair was waist-length and incredibly thick. It was so uncomfortable that I had it cut into a layered, shoulder-skimming style. I like it much better now, but I think I'm going to let it grow out for the wedding anyway. Definitely not to my waist again, but maybe mid-back. It's just so uncomfortable, hot and heavy that I'm still trying to make up my mind.

I did! Not for an updo, but because I wanted curly curls-so I still needed length so it didn't get too short. THEN I couldn't get an appointment for a cut until October (after the August wedding). I was going nuts. The sad thing is, I had 10-12 inches (just under enough to donate) cut off then, and I haven't cut it since. It's nearly all back. I'm getting a bob soon though I think...I feel like I'm getting ready for the wedding all over again with all this hair. Since I grew for like 2 years, it's hard to get out of that habit of grow grow grow.

I know how you all feel. I had it all cut yesterday, 14 inches in all. I was able to donate, but I couldn't take it anymore. The principal at my school announced during the afternoon announcements that "Ms. Leffel finally cut her hair!! And it looks great!" , which makes me think everyone thought I wasn't too good looking with long hair.... :lmao:

DF likes it though, he is one of the only men I know that doesn't like long hair!!

It should grow out just enough for the wedding... I hope....

I grew my hair out for our wedding and had ponytails all the time. DH was in LOVE with that as he loves ponytails more than anything. We got back from the honeymoon and the day after we got home I called to get an appointment and went in and said cut it. My stylist cut some said no more right now, and just two weeks ago finally cut it to the length I wanted. LOL!!

It will be worth it in the end!

So I'm not alone?!?!?!?! My philosophy was, "I'd rather have my hair be too long before the wedding and be able to cut it, than wish it was longer and not be able to do anything about it". It is driving me nuts! It will definitely be cut shortly after we come home! Right now it is at the middle of my back, I prefer it right below my shoulders. I love the way my hair looks when it is longer which is why I'm doing it (for pictures), but it's a pain to take care of. My fiance keeps telling me to cut it to below my shoulders again if that is what I want, but I am determined to stick this one out! Right before the wedding I am getting highlights and a trim, that's when I will make the final decision about length. Mine isn't for an up-do either, just that long-princess hair look.
I think we might have to start a support group to keep eachother from cutting our hair before our weddings!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I'm avoiding the whole issue - I'm wearing fake hair for my wedding! I have a bunch of clip-on ponytails that I wear a lot, so I won't feel weird or anything. I get to keep my shoulder-length hair exactly the way it is, and just make sure I get it colored to match (that's why I have "a bunch" - I change my hair color a lot!).

That said, I could never really understand why everyone wants long hair for their wedding when they don't have long hair in "real life"... I feel weird enough wearing contacts when I usually wear glasses!

I think long hair for weddings happens for 2 reasons. 1) you want an updo or curls that will only work if you have a lot of hair to style or 2) you want that princess feel of long hair.
Up until 2 years ago I always had middle of my back length hair, I've just gotten used to the below the shoulder length lately! I think it is a personal preference for everyone. Mine is not a huge change considering most people remember my longer hair, but it is still driving me nuts now none the less!

I laughed when I read this, because I felt the same way.
I tried to grow my fringe out so that I could have it swept to one side.
It drove me bananas and almost cut it off on more than one occasion.
On the day I was meant to have it swept straightly to one side, but it ended up with a slight wave in it, not how I actually wanted it, but it did look ok.
Keep with it, you can always go straight to a salon the day after the wedding and get it sorted.

YAY!!! I'm so glad there are so many of y'all who feel the same way about their "wedding" hair!! It's rough...I've gotten to that length where I can pull my pony tail half way through the elastic and then tighten it so it's in a pony but a short pony/bun-ish thing. I have to keep it back most days b/c I work with autistic kids and boy oh boy do they like to pull your hair! Actually one of my absolute favorite kids is obsessed with my hair and if I don't watch him he'll come up behind me really quietly and and just stroke the ends till I catch him!!! :rotfl: Or he rubs the ends of it between his fingers...he's really sneaky too b/c once I was reading a book to him and the whole time he was rubbing my hair between his fingers and by the time I realized what he was doing there was a HUGE snarl in the ends. I started pulling it up after that. He asks me every day at every session..."Um...where is your hair? Is it up there? In that pony tail? Is that your hair? Can I see it?" :lmao: Ya gotta love these kids but the long hair is causing everyone anxiety!!!!

Y'know the funny thing about it is that most likely I'll have some version of a PONY TAIL for my wedding!!! oh the irony! :lmao:

love ya ladies!!! :wizard: princess:

I am in the same boat. I am getting married this December. My hair is waist length and super thick. I cannot wait to cut it after the honeymoon! I like my hair long, but it is starting to get to be too much. I don't want to cut it before the wedding because I would rather the stylist tell me she needs to cut it a little to make the style work rather than it be too short. Not only is it killing me because I live in the hot central Florida weather but I am also a teacher. I have a problem keeping my hair away from the kids' heads and that whole head lice thing just freaks me out!!

Jen - I love your hair! Normal and wedding. One day I'm going to get the guts to go that short - it's so freeing to not have all that extra weight around your shoulders. Ok now I'm back to talking myself into getting a hair cut... :rotfl: I'm thinking that I could do something similar to what you did with the head band and not have to grow it anymore. Hmmm...decisions, decisions.

You're so sweet, thank you! I love it short. I had it grown to below my shoulders until college and then I went platinum blonde (don't ask :rotfl: ) and cut it super short and although the blonde left I kept it short. For the wedding was the longest it has been since college. It was a daily struggle to not just go and get it all cut off but I persevered ;)
I have what my hairdresser calls the worst kind of hair - thin and curly - so short and lots of product is all I can do. I also have a small head - LOL - so no veil for me, they all looked ridiculous on me.
Anyway, thankfully DH loves it short too!!
Don't rush into cutting your hair, talk to your hairdresser about wedding day hair ideas, and I'm sure you will look beautiful!

I'm with everyone! Found a style I absolutely must have for WD, so I'm steadfastly growing. Just had a trim to get rid of the split ends and even though it was a meager 1/2 inch, it felt so liberating. I normally never have my hair longer than shoulder-length. It's the transition period the kills me - when its not as long as you want, but is too short to do much with...ach!

BTW, Jen, you were married on my birthday!!

Oh thank goodness, I'm not the only one... My hair was just about touching my shoulders when we got engaged last May and now it's about 6 inches longer and growing. My DF LOVES long hair and I do want that princess look... will I keep it after the wedding, probably not for long... even though the DF wants me to keep it long... "But I love your long hair..." Well, you wear it and take care of it for a while and then tell me you still want it long. They just don't understand how much work it is to keep long hair looking pretty. I've been lazy with mine lately. I usually straighten it with a blowdryer or a flatiron, but the last few weeks, I just haven't had it in me to do that. :confused3 So, it's been up in a pony tail, just like most of you. I do that half ponytail, half bunish thing all the time. It keeps it out of my face and off my neck. I can't wait for the wedding to come, because I can almost guarantee I'm getting a haircut after it. AND, we decided to start having babies shortly after we're married. I've done the long hair and being pregnant thing - no way - not again... :sad2: OK - I feel better knowing I"m not alone on the hair issue. Thanks guys!! :teeth:
